Question about L&D

Sorry if this is a stupid question. But as we all know, I'm past my due date. I was having contractions all night, and still this morning (about every 7 minutes.) MH told me this morning that he is feeling pretty sick, like a bad cold, stuffy, bad cough. What do we do if I am actually in labor? Is he okay to be in the delivery room? He can't hold the baby though right? Or are gloves and a mask good enough?

At the unit I worked on, they had masks and gloves at the door for any sick visitors/parents. When I worked there, I had to wear a mask whenever I was sick and visiting patients. They should have something on hand for him to wear.

LOTS of proper hand washing and a mask is perfect. He honestly shouldn't need to wear gloves if he knows how to do proper hand washing. (I can't imagine not being able to feel my new baby!!!)

He should be fine with a mask, but I think he could skip the gloves as @kmc84 said as long as he washes his hands thoroughly before he holds the baby. I hope this is it for you!

I guess it's a moot point for now, as LO has once again faked us out. 12 hours of contractions, and still nothing!

I'm glad to hear it isn't as much to worry about as I feared. Thanks as always, ladies!

TJ next time you have a good run of contractions, get in the shower and let the warm water run over your belly and chest. The nipple stimulation might get some things going! And if not at least you'll be good an relaxed

You mean your coworkers aren't down with a little nip stimulation?! Haha all joking aside I hope that baby comes out SOON! The shower nip stimulation kicked me from early labor that had been dragging on for like 20 hrs in to active labor this time with DS, so I hope it will do the same for you!

That's a really good point @CallMeAl. I just assumed since I was having contractions for 12 freaking hours that surely labor was imminent. But you are right, this is the perfect time to keep on trying all the little stimulators. Thanks for the reminder!
