Baby Names

And now: What do YOU want to be called when you're a Grandma? (a long long time from now.)

I think I would like to be called Bunny or Mor Mor (Swedish for g-ma). After my own grandmother.

But I've heard some other names from friends that I think are cute too:

My ring bearer calls his grandma Jammie. He coudln't say Grammie. It's adorable...but maybe not so cute when he's

A lady at church gets called Darlin' by her g-kids. Also very cute and sweet

Kids come up with the cutest things.

  • my MIL is called Big Mamma.   She is in no way big.  My daughter just started calling her it because I am the mom and she is the bigger mom.  Now everyone calls her it.
  • I'd like to be called Mimi! not sure what DH would like to call... not sure what goes with Mimi??? Wink

  • I think I would like YaYa which is Greek for Grandma, My husband is Greek and it just sounds so happy.
  • We used to call our grandma mammy and then later shortened it to mam...I really liked it.  I also love how my nephew calls my mom Mimi

I love YiaYia! I'm not Greek but I attend a Greek Orthodox church and it's so cute.

  • I attend a Coptic Orthodox church and always hear the kids calling "Tay-ta" (grandma) and "Gid-dew" (grandpa)

  • The women in my family do not go by grandma or anything similar. My great grandmother was Queekie, my grandmother was Nonni, my mom will be Gigi, I think I'll be Coco.

  • I've always liked the German Oma and Opa.  I've never used the terms, but I think we're German enough to pull it off (both dh and I are at least 1/4 German).  Maybe I'll dub my IL's that for this little one and it will carry on.
  • I adore my maternal grandmother. I'd like to be a "Nina" just like her.

My nephews call my mom Mormor and I'd like to be called that as well (and yes, I'm Swedish...on my dad's side anyway Big Smile).

TTC #1 since 7/08 After 3 years, 2 losses, 3 rounds of IUI, and one round of IVF, we finally have our dream come true! DS born 7/30/11

TTC #2 off and on since 7/12

  • I'm not sure. My DH calls his Sitto (grandma) and Jiddo (grandpa)... his Sitto is Syrian and Jiddo is Lebanese. I'm not a fan of it. My grandma was Grammy and my Grandpa was Gordy.

My nieces and nephews call me Nani and I would be happy being called that when I am a grandma.

  • I would like to be GiGi or MiMi.  I also sort of think Memaw is hilarious.
  • I'll probably want to be called Nonna (pronounced kno-oh-nah).  But let's not get ahead of ourselves!  lol
  • My mom's name is Nancy, (nn Nan) so I said that Nana made the most sense. She insists on "Grandma Nana" so she's not the dog from Peter Pan. *rolls eyes*

Since my name is Kim, I'd love to be Mim or Mimsy for a grandma. (Not Mom, but still.) It's from the stupid movie "Bless the Child". The girl calls her adopted mom Mim.
