Zumba- is it OK?

Please don't flame me for this (probably) dumb post, but my last 2 pregnancies I was pretty sedentary and gained WAYYYY too much weight. I've been doing Zumba once a week for the past few weeks and am just wondering if you girls think it's OK to continue. It's alot of jumping and bouncing but nothing overly strenuous. Do I just continue and modify as needed? I hate to call my Dr about this....

Re: Zumba- is it OK?

  • I'm going to continue Zumba and modify the jumping as needed. The rest I'm cool with.

I did zumba last night and just modified anything I wasn't comfortable with or sure about.

ETA: I plan to continue with it about onve a week, as well as running and other strength training as long as my doc permits.

  • I have continued to do Turbo Kick (which is dancy kickboxing, similar to Zumba) since I found out I was pregnant, and have modified by taking out any jumping.  Rule of thumb I was told to follow is anything you were doing before you got pregnant you can do now, but just listen to your body :))))

  • Ok, I've only done it 3 times but I really like it and don't want to stop if i don't have to, but obviously it's not my priority right now

  • Check with your doctor and listen to your body is the best advice I can give :)
