Cloth Diapering

Diaper comparable to FuzziBunz "Classic"

Hi Ladies, I need to add to my stash as I am having major leak issues with our GroVia AI2s.  I really like the fit of our FB "classic" but find the new FB "elite" fit more like a BG.  I have trim babies - my little guy is 21 months and about 20 lbs and we have #3 on the way so I am planning to invest in some more diaps.  Suggestions please?

  • I've never heard of a FB "classic." Do you mean the old style OS Elite, what they were making before the redo they did about 2 years ago? If that's what you are after, Charlie Bananas are a similar concept. They have adjustable leg elastic and are fairly trim in the crotch. They're a lot narrower than BG but a little bit wider than the old FB (so easier to stuff IMO). I also really like my Blueberries Simplex OS diapers, but they are a little pricey.

Would you like us to try to help figure out the Grovia leak issue? There are a lot of good leak gurus on the board.

The main thing with the Grovia AI2s is that their snap-in inserts are not very absorbent. I'm not surprised a 20 month old is leaking out of them. Do you have any prefolds? Even a trifolded GMD small is going to be more absorbent than a Grovia insert and probably solve your leak issue. I wanted so badly to like the Grovia inserts because they are a nice design, but sold them off because DD would soak them in one pee.

  • Thanks for the feedback ladies.  There isn't really an FB "classic" but I mean the ones before the redid them as "Elite".  I'll take a look at the Charlie Banana for sure.

I'd love some feedback on the GroVia leak issues, I hadn't heard of others having this problem but I only know a few other GV users.  I have been adding an apple cheeks bamboo booster for extra absorbancy but those are pretty small.  I snent him to the sitter this a.m. in one with two boosters - one folded in half at the front and one flat - we'll see what becomes of that.  I don't have any prefolds and I'd rather look at a differnet solution.  Feedback welcome!

  • So the Grovia inserts are saturated when he's getting the leaks? There are other inserts you could try that may be bigger than the ACs if you don't want to use prefolds. Best Bottoms are pretty popular around here, but I'm not sure if their snaps fit the GroVia covers. (They should still function fine, but they might shift a tad.) Flip also makes a natural fiber insert without snaps.

  • Inserts are soaked when he gets the leaks.  The double AC insert worked yesterday a.m. so it does seem to be an absorbancy rather than fit issue.  I'll take a look into Best Bottom.  Generally I prefer pockets (easier for day care) so I'd liek to stay away from prefolds or something that doesn't snap in.  I'm putting the AC inserts in the middle of the GV soaker.
