I don't follow much 1D stuff but if you search for them you will find blogs you like and can follow them.

I didn't understand tumblr either.  I'm not sure I do even now.  I just search for whatever (basically Harry Styles).  Sometimes I follow particular blogs, sometimes I just search though the tags.

ETA: @mrsbadkat's blog doesn't work on any device I own in any browser I try and this makes me sad.
