3rd Baby Monitor??

I am pregnant with my 3rd child due in December and I'm wondering if it is necessary to get a 3rd baby monitor? My other children are 4 and 2 1/2 so they still have monitors in their bedrooms but I'm not sure if the 4 year old still needs it. If not, then I can move hers into the new baby's room and not worry about it.  What is a good age for a child to not need a monitor anymore??

Re: 3rd Baby Monitor??

  • Does one of your current ones work with a second camera? If so, just do that.
If not, then I'd just take it out of the 4 year old's room. By December, your 4 year old will be 4 1/2, close to 5. You won't really need a monitor anymore. Or if you really feel like you do - just get a basic one with sound only, no video.

  • Yeah, we were able to add on another camera to our single monitor.  Save a bit of money.  But I think most of them are not add-on friendly, you have to check first with manufacturer.  Your 4 year old might start resenting the baby monitor as intrusion on privacy soon.  But it's a safety issue, so it's really only you who can decide it.  I know it's going to be hard for me to decide when to take it out.  My nephew started unplugging it and resenting the intrusion when he got a bit older than 4.
