My heart rate has been in the 140-150's over the weekend.. at rest. I am waiting on a call back from the dr to see at what point do i need to become more concerned and possibly come in. My mom is already flipping out due to how high it is without me doing anything. Is anyone else having this issue? My bp has remained stable but every once in awhile i will catch it and it is high for me... my normal bp is below 110 and my heart is usually in the 70-80's.
Re: Extremely Elevated HR and swelling
@cdk211 they mentioned compression socks to me a few months ago when they noticed my bp was dropping and I was getting extremely dizzy in the morning but i never got them.
To get your heart rate you just need a stop watch (or a smartphone with a timer) and know how to take your pulse (wrist is the easiest place). You count how many heartbeats you feel within 30 seconds, and double that number to get your beats per minute heart rate (or you can continue to count for the full minute).
As for getting your BP, walgreens/cvs/target usually have a machine you can stick your arm into over by their pharmacy. I take mine with a BP cuff/stethoscope left over from my EMT days.

So went in at 3, my heart rate was around 88-90, which is good so it had stabilized and my bp was normal. However, they noticed my heart rate rhythm was irregular. It will beat slow slow slow then fast fast fast.. So that was odd and a little concerning. They mentioned possible beta-blockers but do not want to do that unless it is continuously elevated. I am to continue monitoring and when i feel out of breath or like my heart is racing, or if i take it and it is elevated, i am to lay down and prop my feet up and drink tons of water. They do believe it is a chiari issue so they are calling my neurosurgeon to get his opinion. If I continue to feel exerted or out of breath while resting, they may want to do a chest xray. I have my normal check up appt on friday so they will check me then. If my hr goes up and stays up, I am to go to the hospital. I also have to cut out caffeine and no more zumba. Good news, baby girl's heart rate was great and she seems to be doing fine. She finally starting moving at the dr office which helped my nerves. Thanks for the good thoughts.. hopefully this can be easily monitored and won't turn into a serious issue.
