12/12ers whi are PG with #2 - tired!

Hey 12/12ers, I'm 10 weeks pg with #2, and bone-crushingly exhausted. I know I'm less rested with this one than with #1, but I can NOT seem to get rested. I feel exhausted all the time, can hardly stay awake through the day, and can basically only do the minimum requirements of being a mom, keeping the house from utter disaster and getting a modicum of work done at my part time job. I'm still nursing DS, which I'm guessing isn't helping the fatigue either. Oh, and I'm OLD! I'll be 40 whe this one is born. Maybe I'm just feeling my age. I just don't remember feeling this tired with the first pregnancy. Was this any of your experiences with this second pregnancy? And those of you in 2nd tri already, did it end? I'm guessing it's normal, but I honestly can't believe the level of exhaustion. It's utterly crushing, and to be honest, I'm starting to feel a little depressed about it. Maybe I'm just looking for commiseration. What worked for you, other than getting through first tri?

I am 15 weeks with #2, and I will be 39 when this one is born. First Tri was exhausting for me too, and I was sick as a dog. Honestly, I'm not proud of it, but I let LO watch a lot more TV than I normally would, just so I could lay down on the couch and rest myself. I also tried to take naps when she did, something I haven't done since she was a newborn. The house was definitely a mess and we ate a lot of takeout. But, in the past few weeks it has gotten a lot better! My sickness is gone and my energy is coming back. Thank God, because I couldn't take much more. Hang in there! It will get better.

Oh, and green tea! It is lower in caffeine than coffee and gives you a little shot of energy. That definitely helped me.

Ahhh, thanks for your answers. Nice to know I'm not the only one!
  • I definitely was in the same boat during first tri. I think the biggest difference for me was that I could come home and nap/go to bed early with #1, but couldn't this time since I have DD1 to think about now. It seems at least a little better now, though I still feel beat at the end of the day.

  • I'm 18 weeks and I'm still exhausted. I can't stand in line for more than a couple of minutes. It's really bad. I almost sat down in line in old navy.
