Pregnant after a Loss

I need your advice...

Hi,

I have never posted here before, but would love your opinions as to what is happening with my body. My doctor has been absolutely no help to me and I have no idea what to expect. We lost our son at 14 weeks gestation. He was 100% healthy - what a heart breaker for us as we know that one hour before labor he was moving and had a wonderful heartbeat. I found out yesterday that my betaHCG had gone down to two, two weeks prior it was at 8. For whatever reason, my husband in the last 3 weeks has found me irresistable, which baffles me, but needless to say, yesterday I had extremely mild spotting that was light pink/brown when I wiped only. Throughout the day yesterday, I felt some stretching like cramping below my belly button and towards the right side of my mid section. I have also been a bit bloated. Today, I noticed that I had mucous discharge into the toilet, but when I wiped nothing. This has happened twice. Similar to what I had when I was pregnant. Keep in mind, I have yet to get my period after this loss. What are your thoughts? Am I reading to much into this?

Thanks!

Lynette

Re: I need your advice...

  • Firstly, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Secondly, I'm not quite sure what it is that you're asking us?

  • I guess what I am asking is how long do I wait for my period. Is what I am experiencing normal? What was your experience.

Your post is a bit confusing.  What you describe doesn't sound all that out of the ordinary.  What are you asking about with your husband finding you irresistible (are you saying you had spotting after sex)?  Did you ultimately have a D&C? When?  Did your doctor not provide any guidance for you?

It can take a long time for your body to return to normal after a miscarriage. The rule of thumb is if you go 6 weeks (some say 60 days) without a period to call your doctor--they may make you wait longer, they may bring you in.   You might want to check out the TTCAL blog: https://ttcalblog.wordpress.com/polls/how-long-did-it-take-for-af-to-arrive-after-you-loss/

ETA: OP, I am so confused by your post. If you are asking if you might be pregnant, there is no way for us to tell you.  Take a test. Just be aware that, unless you were tracked to zero, you could have residual hcg in your system.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.

It is certainly possible to conceive again before you get your first period. My son was conceived the cycle after a D&C and this baby was conceived the cycle after an early m/c. If what you're feeling is in fact a new pregnancy, you're likely only a couple days in, so I would wait to take a test in about 10 days.

  • Thank you all. I was tracked down to HCG of 2. I am sorry to have been confusing. I will test in two weeks time and see what happens if I don't get my AF between now and then.
  • I'm really sorry for your loss. If you are wondering if you could be pregnant, take a test. If that's not what you are wondering, it sounds to me like possibly signs of ovulation. As pp said, bodies do weird things after a loss. Have you ever considered temping as a way of learning what you're body is doing?
