First time out in cloth

Sooo I'm a major lurker on this board. Only because my son wasn't born until may 2nd so I never had any input. But today I just want to post something quick.

To the dedicated mamas who go above and beyond to help newbie cloth diapering moms. THANK YOU! I read this board more than my BMB lol and I love to hear the advice you guys give on a daily basis.

We went to a doctors appt and the doctor kept complimenting us on our "earth friendly" diapers lol. He pooped and it was not bad at all! She encouraged me to go overnight with the cloth as well!
I am really excited for this journey with my son and I really regret not doing this with my daughter!
The only thing I need/want is some cloth wipes. So im gonna be on the lookout for those ASAP.

But once again. Thank you to the moms who go above and beyond and post on this board. You girls are lifesavers. And a pic it's a bad pic but you get the point lol!
If you knew better, you'd do better.

  • Love it!  I wish someone would compliment me on my cloth diapers.  Reading your post just made me realize that no one, NO ONE, has yet complimented me or exclaimed over how cute he looks in them.

  • If you or anyone you know can sew, cloth wipes are super easy and cheap to make.

I've gotten so much crap from my friends saying how "gross" it is. But it's not as bad as they think it is. I'm really glad I made the switch.

@jcwinsto‌ I think people who DONT use cloth or know about it won't comment. If I saw another baby in cloth I would start a conversation with the parent. Just because you already have that one thing in common.

  • Re: wipes - we've used just regular old washcloths we bought at Wal-Mart plus all of the ridiculously small baby washcloths we got at my shower as wipes and they work just fine.
  • I do like the wipes from thirstiest outlet. Homemade flannel ones are great too. Cheap baby cloths are ok, but aren't the best for some of the poops

  • I too was a lurker before my son was born and the ladies on here have me the confidence I needed to do this and be successful at it. So far I love cloth diapering and it is definitely not "gross". Not as gross as cleaning sposie blow outs! *eye roll*

  • Doctors and nurses always comment and compliment Sam's diapers. One doctor told me all about how it was when she was CDing her kids a million years ago! I'm not a fan of my cloth wipes yet. I don't have them in a solution or anything. Just a spray when I need it.

I agree completely. I've only been at this for a couple of months and I've learned so much from the wonderful ladies on this board.

I get compliments on DDs diapers at the doctors office too and the doctor will undo them to check her all out but gets me to snap them back up so that it's done correctly lol
