I think we're officially getting rid of our MF inserts that came with the BG 4.0s.

We've been using them along with a cotton/hemp double for ON use on DD1, and every morning her diaper stunk to high hell.

I thought it was just b/c she was a heavy wetter and the pee just sat and got funky, but the last two nights, I switched to using a tri-folded newborn cotton prefold with a charcoal bamboo insert inside the pocket, and no funky smell. At least not enough to make me gag when I got it close to me. Yay for natural fibers!

Think it's worth trying to sell the MF inserts we currently have? DH was actually talking about throwing them out (and he hates to throw things out), but not sure what the used market is like for MF.

They don't smell after being washed, just after being used overnight.

Thoughts?

My guess is that they have ammonia buildup.  Also, I don't think there is much of a market of MF inserts (used or unused).

This has been discussed before.  There are lots of things you can do with them though... like washing your car or using them as a swiffer mop.

I told MH that he was free to rob them out of the bay's room to wax vehicles and whatnot. I think once i run out of swiffer's I'll start using them for dusting.

Good to know, thanks ladies! I'm just glad we found a solution that doesn't involve funky smells in the morning.

I'll just move them out from the diaper supply basket to the cleaning supplies. I'm sure I can get DD to help with some dusting around the house :-)

I use them for dusting... Amazing!!!! They also got all the finger prints off my phone and iPad better than anything else.
