For the second time in a week, a new housekeeper that I have hired has bailed at the very last minute (this morning it was literally an hour before the appointment).

I am so fucking pissed that my response to her message may make her cry.

That's very unprofessional of her.  I'd be pissed.

  • I'm tired today. DH and I went to a concert last night, my ILs have our kids and we stayed out entirely too late. I'm too old for this shit, even though it was fun. And DH leaves this morning for Asia for a week, two days earlier than originally planned. I have nothing organized at home.

I'd be pissed to @BPer. One hour before is unacceptable unless its an emergency.

I completely ran out on my mom this morning mid sentence. She expects me to sit around and chit chat for 20 minutes when we see eachother. I don't have time. Some people need to be at work on time. I'm pretty sure she forgets that Monday through Wednesday when she's at my house at 8:20 and I need to be at work at 8:30.

  • I think I'm just getting so overwhelmed by the boxes I still have to unpack, the paperwork I have to do for the new house, the last minute stuff for closing on the old house, and all the actual work/organizing I need to do at my job, that I'm just shutting down and doing none of it.

My desk is messy, my apartment is messy and I really need motivation to do something about at least one of them this weekend.

I went through this a few weeks ago. I took a day off basically and just made a list and normal clean-up (dishes/trash). The next day I was a list tackling machine. I felt really accomplished to finish things and having a concrete plan helped so so much.

I need to do this.  I love lists.  I'll make one today when I'm not working as hard as I should be ;)  Then tomorrow hopefully I can at least get my house in order.  Which is actually necessary because we have people coming over for dinner...

I'm going to be really late to work, because we had a follow up appt at the chiro. I couldn't care less. But H is being a complete asshole about getting there late.weeellll maybe if he'd drive faster than 64 in a 65 for the 30mi drive we wouldn't be as late. I might punch him.
DH drives me nuts with his driving. If we're running late it feels like he drives even slower. Put your foot on the gas man!

  • My client didn't trust the other girl who recently quit so she has me checking all of her work for the past year - on top of prepping for an audit, formulating our budget for next year, writing new SOPs for far too many things that have never been documented, and my normal every day activities.

Someone is coming onboard in 3 weeks and while I am looking forward to having some help, I am dreading all the time out of my day it is going to take to get her up to speed.

    I hate training new people.

When people say age doesn't matter in relationships I tend to disagree. BIL is 30 and his gf is 47. It's weird. Age differences can be weird. It's not just a number.

DH and I are 6 years apart. For us the age thing doesn't matter but I can see 17 years. I'm all for an older woman having a younger man but that amount of age difference comes with different experiences. I could see how it would be an issue.

It tends to be more normal the longer they are together. My aunt and uncle are 15 years apart (started dating when she was only 22) and it is totally normal for them now.

  • I think 10+ year age difference can be weird, otherwise? Meh.
Agreed. and also it seems to be weird the older people are. For instance... 22 and 32? Not so weird. 20-somethings and 30-somethings have a lot in common, are pretty much in the same shape health-wise. But when you get into situations where it's 30 and 47 or w/e ... I tend to think of the future. 50 and 67? 80 and 97? Maybe I think about this too much.

but seriously.... BIL's girlfriend looks like his mom and mothers him... effing weird.

I think it depends on the people, though, too.  I've seen some May-December relationships that totally made sense because the people just clicked--maybe the younger person was just an old soul, or maybe they were both so kooky in the same way that age didn't matter as much.

And I've seen people the same age who were in such different places, mentally, that it didn't work out.  Like they might as well have been a 45 year old and a 21 year old.

  • I have been seriously judging my DH who is a newfound NBA fan since the Wizards have been in the playoffs. He has not watched 1 NBA game willingly in the 13 years we have been together.

He even bought a frickin' Wizards shirt! Ugh.

  • My parents were 14 years apart...it didn't seem weird to me since my Dad always looked really young.  It got weird at Christmas when my BIL said something to the tune of my Dad robbing the cradle. Especially since we do all holidays and vacations together with my Dad's first wife.  Similarly, when I was 22, I dated someone 32.  It was weird.  Even though I (thought) was a more mature 22, it was still a big difference.

My FFFC: This morning on the news they were making a big deal about how the script from today or yesterday's airing of "The View" was being donated to The Smithsonian because Barbara Walters is retiring.  I think The View is complete drivel and get embarrassed for people when I hear them talking about it as a "news" show, yet if I'm off on a random day, I almost always turn it on for a few minutes so I can yell at the TV.

Winner of FFFC! How do you treat that?
I got an antifungal cream I have to put on several times a day.
Hope it clears up for you!

  • My parents were 15 years apart, so I've always felt that age is just a number. I see nothing wrong with it.

I think the biggest thing when couples are 15-20 years between them is if children are involved. Their child is graduating high school and dad is 70. How many years does that child really have "left" with his father? I'm not saying they shouldn't have kids, its just a weird concept to me.

My dad was 47 when I was born. He's 73 this year, so a little younger than your example. But my mother and father were the PERFECT couple, just meant for each other. And my dad has been an amazing dad to me. I know each experience may vary, but it's not that bad.

Oh, hell, we're already being catty about the tacky invitations.

Is this the same woman you referenced going to Kleinfelds? If so, talk about total opposite ends of the spectrum.
