Anyone else experienced(ing) this....cramping like crazy

Please answer with solid advice and/or help- TIA

I have had cramping for a couple weeks now, I am almost 41wks (Sunday) dr wants to induce me as of Monday- totally against my birth plan. The last few days I have lost my MP, and the cramping is more intense. I am dilated to 2cm (as of last appt) is all this cramping a form of contractions? Anyone have a similar situation with the constant cramps?? I keep thinking it's time, but they don't stay. I have had back aches, leg cramps, etc... Getting so discouraged. :-(

For the last two days, I've had period like cramping, but more intense than regular period cramps. They last about a minute and have been getting stronger, but not closer together. They've been pretty steady at about 40 minutes apart. I am 38 weeks 2 days, 0 dilation and 0% effaced and I've been losing parts of my plug for the last week or so. No real advice here, but I'm in a similar situation. Every time I think it is time to call the doctor or go in, they stop completely for about 3 hours. This child and my body are just teasing me, I think.

  • I hear ya, it's so irritating- I get my hopes up, then nothing. Every time I feel a tightening, or a cramping that is more severe- I think "thank god, let's do this" but then puff, gone. Hopefully baby decides to come on her own, but I have been told all the cramping is prepping our body. Good luck :-)
  • I have had tons of cramping and contractions at night for the past week but when I wake up and start moving they are gone. My OB told me this is good and I should go soon. I am only 1cm but baby is low and my cervix is apparently soft. I hope you ladies get moving soon! I know we all want to meet our babies :)
  • I was JUST going to add this discussion and noticed u already had! I went to bed last night with the worse heartburn of my life. I did end up sleeping but I just woke up with really bad cramping like period cramps. I've had them all along but this time they are awful. like the kind I used to call out of work for. im hoping it means somthing since my dd is next week! I have a reg dr appt in 2 hrs so well see. I'm slightly confused because they aren't sharp pains like everyone tells me contractions are like so idk?
  • Well I have asked my dr in a visit, and called about them- she says they are normal, and unless they are consistant they are not labor contractions... Discouraging, however, I know they are making progress in my body... On a good note, the cramping is how some women labor. I just took time and read all about it.

    Hopefully soon for us!!
  • Ive has these types of cramps for over a month on and off and they also spread to my lower back. My OB said it is a form of Braxton hicks but is also good to prepare the uterus for thinning out for labour and in a c section case its very good as it is easier for the dr during surgery.
  • I'm with ya! I've had period like cramping in the past, and I've had a really painful contraction last week. But last night, it seemed like these cramps were a mix between the two. They were about 14 minutes apart and I just felt off, but I've had nothing today so far. Regular cramping is just our bodies prepping, according to my doctor, but again last night felt different. I'm hoping something happens soon before induction day!

  • I've been having minor cramps on and off for weeks now. My OB just said it's my bodies way of preparing.
  • Sheesh!!! Our bodies certainly go through a lot of preparing... I hope with all this our Labors are easier- anyone can advice on that? Let's just hope!!
