Sleep sack

Are you still using them? I just put DD to bed with an undershirt, long sleeve and pants cotton pjs , and socks. I feel as though she's getting too long for her sleep sacks, especially the lighter one that is clean right now. It's muggy here so I didn't put it on but I covered her with a receiving blanket but I can't stop thinking what if she pulls it over her face? Am I in the clear??

Re: Sleep sack

  • We still use them but once she is grown out of this size, which should be in about a month we will just go without. The weather should be pretty warm at that point so I will probably just put her in a sleeper. I think at this age they should be ok with a light blanket but it's whatever you feel comfortable with!

  • Still use them but the last few nights she's been in a onesie only. It's been very hot and humid here, plus the ac is not in yet for the summer. I've also been wondering about introducing a very light blanket at night but I'm on the fence about it because she likes to put things like that on her face when she sleeps. Sometimes I wish I had one of those heart beat monitors for things like this.

DS is bordering on being too long for them. Most of the ones we have are sleeved fleece, which it's *finally* getting warm enough in PA to go without them. We do have a few sleeveless cotton ones and a few 6 month+ ones, so we'll probably use them from time to time when it's cool. LO isn't a big roller while sleeping. The most he's moved is side to back, so if I put a blanket covering his lower half, which I often do, I'm not worried.

  • Use the Halo sleep sacks. She has one fleece one and two cotton ones. They are in the medium size 6-12 mos. They are plenty long. It's part of her bedtime routine to change into pajamas (long sleeve footie) and sleep sack. Nap time we also use the sleep sack over whatever she's wearing.

  • Still use them. LO is short and it's still chilly here. She's all over her crib every night so no way she would stay covered with a blanket.

  • He is too big for some but the light Aden and Anais in a medium still fits and both that brand and Halo ones come in a large so I will get those next. Tonight was very hot so he's in a long sleeved onesie with the sleepsack and he slept very well. Some nights lately he's just been in long sleeves pjs, no sleepsack. I won't do a blanket yet - from what I've read the risk is still too great.

  • Both of my girls still use them,  I have the sleepsack for walkers for my two year old because she likes to lay on top of her blanket instead of keeping herself covered.  Her room is freezing so she needs something.  Plus she's so used to it, she has trouble falling asleep without it on.  Alexis will stay in it b/c I have all the sizes from DD1 and she moves around the crib like crazy.  Plus I'm too paranoid to give a blanket at this point.  Heres the link for the walker sleepsack but be warned they run EXTREMELY large.  My two year old uses a large and its a little big on her.

My DD out grew the ones we had a few months ago. I made her our own using 1 yard of fleece cut in half and the sides tied together like these. https://m.instructables.com/id/No-Sew-Fleece-Blanket-1/

We keep our home cold at night but I've thought about using a cooler material since it's getting warmer, even thought about just putting her in a pillow case.

I have used a blanket wrapped around her body tightly, leaving her arms out. We used a blanket some during the winter over a sleep sack because it was so cold and DD likes to kick her feet, she kicked the whole blanket up around her neck one morning so I quit for a while. She doesn't move hardly at all at night so that makes me a little more comfortable.
  • LO sleeps in either footed or open footed pajamas.

We bought the Merino sleepsacks which are big enough to use until about 2 yrs old, so we wouldn't have to keep buying bigger ones.  He is all over the place while he sleeps so a blanket would never work.  Plus I am hesitant until he is older.  We also keep our house pretty cool, so I think he'll need it.

Long story short.. he is still in the sleepsack and probably will be for at least another 6 months.

  • You all are going to laugh but DS is still in the MMSS. We tried to go without it one night and it didn't go over well. We tried another night and it still didn't go over well. I have no idea what to do...

  • @dhaueisen‌ may I ask how long your DD is?

Erin is too long for our Carters 0-9 sleep sacks. She is about 29" now. I want to get the A&A for this summer, but I was assuming to buy a large. Also do you have the thin style or the cozy style?

  • @cputman200‌ my guy is also long- he's in Carter's 12 month pjs. He was out of the Carter's 0-9 sacks months ago. He's in the medium a&a breathable one and it's still got room for growth.
I'm not sure if you have a home goods near you but I've found them there for $9.99!

  • @BlondAmbition1230‌ and @dhaueisen‌ thank you. She has been too long for the carters sleep sack a couple of months. They are fleece and LS so they are a bit too warm now. She has always slept in a footed sleeper and until last month she had a 2nd layer.

I think I'll get the lighter weight in a size large.

I will have to check out home goods to see if they have a deal.

    Thanks again!

I do a short or long sleeve onesie with a cotton sleeveless sleep sack but often worry she is hot or cold. Scared to do blanket yet.

  • We only used the fleece sleep sacks while it was still cold. Long sleeves/pants with covered feet is enough for us right now. Once in a while I will put socks on under her pj's if we are having a cooler night.
