Pregnant after a Loss

WWPGALD?

So, I called my doctor's office today to schedule my first appointment.  I was informed that he would be retiring in September, so I could do 1 of 3 things:

1:  See him until September and then transfer to the doctor he has arranged to take over his patients for him.
2:  See him for the first appointment to confirm everything is as it should be, and then find another OB
3:  Start with a new OB from the get go.

A few things you should know:

~He is a single doctor practice, so I can't transfer to another doc within the same practice.

~He would have delivered at a different hospital than I preferred, but I liked him when he delivered my youngest and when I lost my twins, so I was willing to stick with him for this one.

~Since I will have to change providers at some point, I am considering a midwife, but I'm not completely sold on the idea just yet.

Just wondering what the lovely ladies of PGAL would do.  Thanks in advance!!!

Re: WWPGALD?

  • I'd go to the first appt to ease PgAL brain and the. Find someone new at the facility where you want to deliver.

This.  You can go and get everything checked out and take your time finding someone you really like (OB or midwife) who delivers at your preferred hospital.

  • Like others have mentioned, I'd go to your current OB for first appointment and ask him who he recommends. Or do some research on different docs in your area and see which one fits your preferences best :)

  • I would see him first to get his opinions and perhaps you can get in earlier than a new office. I would also make an appointment for a new OB.
