Cloth Diapering

WTAF (OT)

My sister just called me because she found a BABY in just a diaper with a pacifier running on the street in front of her house. After calling the police she waited outside with the baby for a half hour until the officer arrived, no one at all came by claiming the baby or calling a name, searching or anything. Well at least not until the police officer came and then someone in a truck came by and was like, 'Hey that's my neighbors baby. She just went out driving around looking for her.'

Wtf, because that's a natural reaction: Your BABY goes missing from your house, so you just go driving around looking for her? And wtf to the neighbor who knows that she did this and doesn't immediately call the fucking police. JFC. The police officer said that there was a similar situation in the neighborhood earlier this year, and wondered if it was the same kid. Well, judging by the fact that this mother of the year decided to just hop in her car and cruise around, it wouldn't be a huge shocker.

What the fucking fuck is pretty much my only reaction to this.

  • Holy shit. How is the hell is a person allowed to keep a kid after that?

  • Dang it! I wondered where the little booger had snuck off to. Ever since he figured out how to undo the buckle on his collar, I just can't keep him in the yard.

  • I'm honestly sick over the whole thing. This is not the first personal experience with roaming babies, either. My sister and I have both had similar situations already happen (she was still in or right out of college, mine was when pregnant 3 years ago). This town is just full of shit ass, neglectful parents.

  • That poor kid.
  • That's not the first time something like this has happened to you guys?!?! Wow. It reminds me of the article the other day of the baby crawling on to the highway. The older sibling (like 8yo?) took him outside without the mothers knowledge while she was lying down.

Holy hell.  How crazy!  Thank goodness the baby is okay, but I hope somebody is looking into the circumstances.

  • Poor baby. I hope since your sister got the police involved that maybe the authorities are looking into the poor kid's situation.
  • Poor baby. It's a good thing your sister was there to be with her

  • We found a baby once. He was dirty and in a very soiled diaper wandering around the apartment building we were living in. His mother was on some sort of drug and was passed out in their apartment. It makes me so sad to think of all the times that happened where the baby didn't escape. It breaks my heart.

  • Holy sh!t... The poor kids who have parents like that.  My DS1 just figured out how to let himself out of the house into our backyard and it scared the crap out of me.  Luckily he cannot reach nor would have the strength to undo the deadbolts so we now leave those on 24-7.  I'm sure once he figures that out we'll put a hotel sliding lock on at the very top of the door.
I hate it when I find a dog on our street that has broken lose, I could not imagine finding a baby.

  • That's insane....and really really sad.  Thank goodness your sister was there to sit with him so nothing happened to him.

  • @mapleme,
Lol I guess you have a lot of pampering to make up for your Mom. Also, she may secretly wish your lo turns out just like you, but maybe turned down a notch.

Butyeah I'm always afraid Jo will be that kid that is just out of control no matter what. I'm hearing more stories of parents who has a kid who simply won't listen unless you are hardcore screaming in their face. Like it doesn't phase them at all.
