Cloth Diapering

What should I try next?

I have some PayPal money that's burning a hole in my pocket and I'm looking to spend it on something new  :)

Our current stash consists of: BG Freetime's, NBGE's, Swaddlebee's Simplex, Best Bottoms, SoftBums, Moraki, Nicki's Bamboo AIO, Alva (my last to grab diaper, but I keep them around because they're cute patterns), and Twinkie Tush (I don't love these yet, keeping it around to see if I learn to love it). Other stuff we have either outgrown or decided wasn't for us: Imagine AIO's, Kawaii, GMD Workhorse's (newborn), Bumkins AIO's, and Grovia (newborn).

I don't love pockets (I don't enjoy stuffing) but I'd be willing to try one that someone loves. So, any suggestions of what to add to my stash to try?

Re: What should I try next?

  • I like my Thirsties pockets. I think they've recently redesigned them but the new ones probably aren't too different from what I have. I think the snaps have a different configuration and someone said the Aplix is improved.

That said, why not just buy more of something you know you like?

Grovia AI2s, flats, AppleCheeks/AMP - they are easier to stuff than other pockets-they open in the middle.

  • Grovia AI2 - much as I love my Bestbottoms & Softbums, I have to give Grovia credit for having a really smart insert.  The Stay-Dry insert is hemp/cotton blend for trim absorbancy, divided in 2 layers so it drys better than the bestbottom hemp insert, topped with micro-fleece to be stay-dry, and backed with TPU so you don't have to touch a wet insert while unsnapping it.   I'm just annoyed that they have different snaps than BB & SB, I'd gladly buy bunches of their inserts if they would work in the other shells.

If you want to give pockets a try, my favorite is Thirsties OS pocket.  It has double gussets and is fairly narrow between the legs which is great fit-wise but would complicate stuffing if they weren't also open on both sides to make stuffing easier (and also will agitate out in the wash if you don't wish to unstuff it).  It comes with a Hemp insert (as well as a newborn/doubler in MF, but the hemp works fine alone for us).  I have one of the old Thirsties Duo pockets in size 2 also.  The OS is not cut as large (so might not fit as big of a kid as the size 2 would),  and has 2 rows of snaps like a BG rather than snap design of the other Thirsties (1 row snaps with 2 snaps on the tabs,  like BestBottoms).
