What do you do with LO all day?

DD is 11 days old. Right now her "routine" consists of eating, being passed back and forth for holding and cuddling between myself, DH, and any visitors, maybe an hour of tummy-time on my chest, and napping in the P&P or swing. Luckily, she seems to know her days from her nights and she will sleep 4-5 hours between feedings overnight. I'm just wondering what else I can/should do to help keep her (and us) stimulated during the day. Or is what we're doing ok until she gets a little bigger?

We do EASY: eat, activity, sleep, you (mom) time. Well, as much as we can while juggling his brother and cluster feeds. The activity at this point is as much tummy time as possible.

There is nothing else to do. They're babies, they can't see farther than your breast to eye distance. Hold them, snuggle them, feed them, change them, and relax. Enjoy it now b/c soon enough they'll need much more entertaining!

We are taking it super easy. Sleep, eat, diaper change, a little awake time- repeat. Right now she's awake and making all kinds of funny noises and faces- but no hunger cues so I let her be. The whole world is so new to a newborn, just playing with her hands and feet is stimulating enough at this point.

I may take her out for a walk after her next feeding/change but that's not even for her- I want to check the mail and get a little sunshine myself.

I am going to relish in the simplicity of a newborn while observing my soon to be three year olds NONSTOP go, go, do stuff, do more stuff, do all the stuff, activities.

My son is 10 days old, and our days consist of: feed, change, snuggle, sleep. He nurses almost constantly it seems!

I just put together his activity mat, and he seemed to like it so I'll try to incorporate that into our days.

What you're doing is fine for now. She needs food, sleep, and touch, not much stimulation. Once she starts staying awake for longer stretches, you can start with the more stimulating activities. Take her around to different rooms while you do chores (to expose her to new surroundings and get her used to your routine), lay her on her play mat, sing songs, etc.

But for now just enjoy the cuddles.

LO is 12 days old. We eat, pee, poo, snuggle and sleep. She's not interested in anything else right now and tends to sleep through visits. Sometimes she gets freaked out by her own arms/hands for a while, but that's about as excited as she gets. We use her quiet time to get house stuff done.

Same as PP's....we eat, sleep, pee, poop, change and snuggle all day. Enjoying this while it lasts!

What do you mean by "you (mom)" time?

Eat, take a nap, clean, read, flick the bean ... whatever you want. This takes place while the baby is napping, but I have a magical sort who does so happily in his crib.

My SIL brought our 4yo and 11mo nephews over today and it was chaos. They're wonderful kids, but the older one needs entertaining and the younger one needs watching all the time because he grabs everything. It makes me grateful for the fact that DD does so little at the moment!

ENJOY this time! If you have down time while baby is sleeping, cherish it. I felt the same with my first, but things got much, much busier and then you learn to play with toys and things to keep them entertained and learning. What you're doing now is all that's necessary

This is exactly what the pediatrician said when I asked OP's question at our last appointment!
