@FrodaBaggins - just today a friend of mine was talking about this service -

Apparently several of her friends at her job have used this and recommended it.  I have not used it, so I am not necessarily recommending it, and I have no idea how much it costs.  But given the fact that your HR seems so confused and you are talking about possibly some pay vs. no pay for at least 6 weeks, it might be worth it to you.  Just wanted to throw that out there, because when I heard about it I immediately thought of you.
