Update: ear tubes

Colton had his tube surgery today. He did wonderfully, he's a little fussy right now but the nurses say thats normal for a couple of hours. It was such a quick procedure and we were home within an hour of him waking up! I sure hope this helps the recurrent fluid and infections.
I have been a nervous wreck all week waiting for today, so glad it's done! To all moms having this done its a much easier experience than I thought it would be. As long as you have good caring doctors it makes it a much easier experience!

Glad you had a good experience. Be warned LO may still have infections but they should drain.DD1 had 2 infections right after surgery but after that we had smooth sailing.

The nurses told me that also, will be on the watch for it.

Yay! I'm so glad they went ahead with this. He will feel so much better. A bit of advice, the worst part for Savannah was the drops. She hated me putting the drops in her ears. At that time she was still small enough that I could strap her into her changing pad. With him being bigger, you might want an extra pair of hands until you get the routine down. Good luck!

I just signed on to check in on you. Glad to see you posted this thread and VERY glad to hear the surgery went well!! I hope the recovery process for him is quick and hopefully he won't get any infections!

Ours isn't scheduled yet. We have a follow up with the ENT scheduled for Monday. I believe we will schedule the tubes then.

How many infections did he have before you guys were referred for tubes?

He started with his infections in January the first one came up fast and we had to do two antibiotics amox. And omnicef to get rid of it. He had another one two weeks later that wouldn't go away with either antibiotic and he had to have 3 rocephin injections one a day for 3 days in docs office. Then 3 weeks later another double ear infection. That's when we got referred to ENT, the problem
With his was that they didn't respond to antibiotics as well as they should and he would always have residual fluid left which is what would lead to the next infection!
Sorry for the long explanation. he had a total of 4 but that was in a 4 month span, too many too close together.
