Playing with ears

I have never seen this before, what does it mean? I know it can mean an infection but she doesn't seem to be in pain and is still acting normal. In fact happier and more easy going than she has been lately including napping. She just will not leave it alone (just the left side).

  • sometimes playing with the ear is due to teething

  • Could be an ear infection {sometimes there are no outward symptoms}, could be teething, could just be playing with their ear. My BIL rubs his ear when he's tired to this day, has been doing it since it was a baby. DS seems to do it as well.

My LO seems happy too, so I guess she is just playing with them. She does it often.
  • I will keep my eye on it, this just started a few days ago. Thanks for all info!

  • K does that a lot when he is tired. I think it is a comfort thing.

My DD started that like a month ago. Just the left. After a few weeks she found the right one. Lol she just likes playing with them. I had her at the Dr and no infection.
  • Hmmm she has been a little congested. Perhaps I better try to get her into the dr.

My daughter has been doing this too, started about a week ago. It's always the left ear though, so that leads me to think it might be an infection, but she's acting normal in every other way. I would think that if it's because of teething she'd be playing with both sides?? I don't know anything though. Good luck.

Check behind the ears for dry skin or chaffing. Jack does this when his ears get dry and flaky.
