New to IUI question

Hi all, I'm new to IUI. I'm 39 with 2 failed IVFs under my belt, we are doing IUI because our semen parameters have improved from what the were when we started IVF. 

Today is CD1, I am to start 100mg on Clomid on Sunday (CD5) and take it CD5-9, but then not go in for a ultrasound until CD14, is that normal?  I'm hoping that the dosage of Clomid is enough, I didn't' respond well to my first round of injectables when doing IVF.

Hello. That is around the normal time frame for a check. Usually they are anywhere between CD 10-13ish. Everyone is different though. Good luck!

I usually had mine around day 10- 12 when on clomid but I tend to ovulate on the early side both naturally and on meds. I think it depends on how you respond. Maybe they scheduled you on day 14 because of your past response with meds. It sucks to keep having to go back to recheck. One month I ovulated on CD 16 which was really late for me and I ended up having to pay for 2 scans (which I know is still better than some).

Maybe they're assuming you'll be a slow responder? I've gone in at CD 10 or 11 (depending on where the weekend landed) for my first monitoring appointment after Clomid on days 5-9. Granted, the earliest I've been ready to trigger is CD 19. However, if you are not responding, I would probably want to know that before CD 14 too. I don't know. It's *probably* ok, but it would make me a little nervous.

I took clomid on CDs 3-8 but no one ever monitored me - but we were doing TI with it.

I take clomid days 3-7. When I was taking the lower dosages they'd always start scanning on CD14. Some cycles required 2, 3, or sometimes even 4 u/s.

Now that I'm up to 200mg they start
my scans on day 10. I figure it's better for them to start a little early and be sure not to miss anything. (Even if that does mean paying for two+ u/s a cycle)

Just my experience from my first round w/ clomid only.. they had me come in day 10 for my first u/s and I triggered that night. That was my first round of anything, but I do respond well/fast to meds, especially injects. I dont have any advice, just wanted to share.  However if you're going to worry yourself, then I'd just go in early. Peace of mind is priceless lol Good luck!!

I don't know if that's late for u/s monitoring or not, but you could always start with OPK's at home cd10 to make sure you don't miss a surge. With our IUI we did clomid cd3-7 and I didn't get a surge until cd18.

What do you all think about asking to starting the clomid earlier than CD5 because I'm going to be out of town CD 17 (could do IUI in the morning and leave after that) & 18 (gone all day) and back on CD 19 in the afternoon.    Here is my past charts if that helps at all.   I do BBT and OPK's already and plan on continuing that this cycle.

Not sure. We go in on CD3, 8, 10, and 12. All of those visits are labs and ultrasounds.... But we use injects.

Not to steal a thread.. but @mommalawyer how are you doing??  I hope everything is ok w/ the cysts & your poor ovaries!
