Any medical peeps? please come in...

Just another thank you, for all the support. But I also have a vitamin/supplement during pregnancy question. I do plan to ask when the nurse calls me back today with my beta number, but until then..i'll rack your brains.

I've been taking a balanced b50 complex (50mg of the b vitamins plus 400mcg extra folate) in addition to my prenatal, since I've had success in the past with it lengthening my 9-10 day LP. Is this safe to continue taking while pregnant? Anyone have info on this? I cant seem to find much on dr. Google.

  • If you are pregnant, there is no need to lengthen your LP, nor take the extra vitamin B IMO. Stick with a prenatal with folic acid, and maybe some DHA.

  • Ok. My prenatal has dha added in it, so that's covered..I just wasnt sure if there'd be any "risk/adverse effect" from stopping the b50complex (im sure that sounds ridiculous, but right about now i can't guarantee that my head is screwed on right).

    Actually B vitamins can help with nausea.

    Well, and I did read about that, and considering I had such awful MS with my 1st pregnancy, I figured it couldn't hurt (although I know each pregnancy can be different). I also wasnt sure if the extra b vitamins on top of my prenatal was too much.

  • I took b vitamins and my prenatal and iron tabs and unisom plus varying HG meds and DS and dd both turned out okay.

    I didn't always (usually) keep all the pills down but the docs said if I did it would be fine.

  • I took vitamin B daily for Ms so I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

  • All of your B vitamins are water soluble, so anything above and beyond what your body needs and can use will just be peed out, so no need to worry about getting too much

  • @WhoCanItBeNow‌

    Yeah, this is the balanced b50 complex (50mg of each b vitamin plus the extra 400mcg of folate), plus whatever b vitamins are in my prenatal (which the values in the prenatal seem low to me, no?).

  • It's not 50mg of B12, right? Not that that would be a concern for baby so much as that's quite a lot.

    I think the benefit of B6 for ms is in the 100mg+ range.

    @jorkz821‌ its 50mg of b1, b2, b6, & niacin. 50mcg of b12.
