Cottonbabies response

This is the e-mail response I got from Cottonbabies. While it won't change the fact that diaperparties is shady, it may at least draw attention to who Cottonbabies allows to sell their diapers. Feel free to e-mail them about your disappointment as well.

"Dear

Thank you for your email. I'm so sorry to hear of the disappointment with
Diaper Parties. I'll pass this along to the appropriate department, I do know
they are aware of the station.

Kindest regards,"

  • @jepes numbers, hey maybe their autocorrect failed too

@stringy that's why I don't think cottonbabies should partner with Diaper parties anymore

  • Interesting...although to me its not diaper parties so much as cotton babies. Why did they send DP a big (or small?) lot of Jules when no one else has it? Why don't they just release them on their own site?

They are probably having rafflecopters for retailers to get to sell it too.

I wondered about this too.  Either way it would have been a mob trying to buy them, but I'm guessing CB would have handled it better.  It's not the end of the world.  Just annoyed I wasted an hour when I had other things to do.  And I still want Jules...it's cute :-(

  • I'm debating whether a message like, 'Dear cottonbabies, you suck.' Is warranted or just rude. I mean, first the seconds sales, now this kind of crap.

  • If I was Diaper parties, I would have given consultants first dibs on the diapers. This way they could have used the diapers to book partes. LIke host a qualifying party, get a Jules diaper etc. Think at how many parties they could have booked....

  • I agree with @stringy813.  Dealing with a loss like that is going to take priority over some diapers.  It sounds like their customer service is still handling things in the midst of all that but it has to be frustrating for them to have to deal with the angry mob right now.  When you put it in perspective it seems silly.

Yup, in the end it is just a diaper.  While it was kinda shady the way it was handled by Diaper Parties I don't think it is a reason to boycott a good diaper company (Cottonbabies).  She probably didn't want to handle all the hoopla herself.  FFWC I don't think Jules is that cute anyway.  Also, I would never want to be considered one of those crazy CD mama's.  Just imagine if we put all those women in a room and suddenly flung some Jules into the crowd.  People would die, maybe even literally.  Lots would end up in the ER.  All because of a DIAPER.

    Edit for clarification and typos.

  • Now I have this picture in my head.  Let me see if I can describe it.  There is a Jules hanging from the ceiling and all these crazy mama's are climbing each other, zombie attack style, building a tower to get to it. Lol!

  • Ok, I have worked retail for a small Mom and Pop shop for years. Our scuba mechanic died suddeny of a heart attack. So I understand the whole figuring out staff and such. And I do feel for them.

    That being said.
1)You could have pushed back the re-release. None of us would have been any wiser.
2)You created this demand for the diaper. Now it bit you in the ass on a crappy week.
3)Pick a better vendor to handle special releases.

    Sorry to be blunt.

Oh and no, apparently we are not better than this because used diapers are going for crazy prices.

(But I'm guessing the handful here that e-mailed we not the only ones....)

Does anyone remember when KFC had the fiasco a few years ago about a free meal coupon and then couldn't honor it. This is what this reminds me of....

  • Oh also, my e-mail to Cottonbabies wasn't nasty. Just that they should do a better job at screening vendors.

    Mine too.

And I am very sorry about their staff. But retail is retail. I manage a staff of 10+ employees. Life happens every single day, but business has to keep moving

You know, I totally get that they have more important things to be worried about right now, and I don't blame them a bit for "not watching the mob".  But I find her post a bit rude, and honestly I'd consider boycotting CB because of that.  They're a business.  Her salary is paid indirectly by sales from these customers.   They need to think about how they present themselves and represent the business.  Don't say anything at all.  Or post and say, sorry we are busy dealing with a loss right now.  The situation will be addressed later.  Period. No need to chastise your customers for being upset about something they have every right to be upset about.
Agreed! It's just adding to the ridiculousness of it all!

  • I agree with you @CLLDLL and she will probably take a PR hit for that post.  She has to know that it was not the best thing to put out there with the company name on it.  But my guess is that it was not aimed at you guys that simply wrote your dissappointment.  I'm betting she recieved a lot of nasty hate mail from others.  I wouldn't stop buying from CB though.  Probably mostly because I was kinda thinking the same thing and she just had the balls to say it.

  • Also, we don't know the whole story.  It could be that Cottonbabies did their research on vendors and Diaper Parties was just really good at convincing them that they would be a good choice.  I've known a lot of people who can talk the talk and walk the walk but really suck at actually carrying anything out. (I'm setting next to one right now, in fact).  Maybe Diaper Parties already had the diapers and Cottonbabies had no control over the release date. But it's still dumb to post something like that even if they were thinking it.

I see your point @jcwinsto  but if I decide to hire an employee at my job because that employee convinced me he/she would do a good job and he/she doesn't that's on me.  I'm ultimately responsible for both my choices in who to hire and for making sure that new employee is adequately trained to do a good job.  CB needs to protect their "good name" by making good choices in who represents them.  If they don't they need to own up to it, and do what they can to make it better.

Pointing fingers at your customers' bad behavior doesn't make you look any better.  It just makes you loose loyal customers, who perhaps didn't display this bad behavior in the first place.  You know the whole two wrongs doesn't make a right saying.

  • That Facebook post was rude. If she's dealing with more important things she shouldn't have posted at all.
