Update on life and DD

So, I know in the last few weeks I haven't posted much on here--but it is for GOOD reasons! I am finally back at work, and Reese is back into her normal routine---or the "new normal" as we call it. (Twice a week at her in home---doctors cleared it for her! And twice a week at MIL's and DH taking her to the doctors once a week.)

She loves getting out of the house again, and going places. 

She is still tolerating the chemo REALLY well. She does complain of a belly ache some days but it doesn't bother her enough to stop running around for a .5 second! Her blood counts numbers have dropped--she had to have some platelets transfusion last week, but her blood work as of today shows "growth"---which is good. We also don't go back to her oncologist until next Friday, because we will be starting the third cycle/phase of chemo. (So a full week and a half!) That day if her blood counts are high enough---we will be inpatient in the hospital for about 3-6 days for 24 IV chemo. That will happen every other week for 8 weeks.

Her birthday is officially on Monday--and I think I pawned off the two gifts that she really wants onto family. DH and I went a completely different route with her---she LOVES legos (not the duplos)--and can't put them together yet for obvious reasons, but loves playing with them. I have been wanting the Cinderella Castle lego set for awhile, so I will build it and she will play with it. Best of both worlds She gets it next Monday, I am so excited!

I am exhausted. I seriously have some variation of my name called a million and one times a day. It is either "Mommy! Mommy!" or "Mrs. _______" or "I forgot your name what is it again?" Gotta love kids.

I am raising a germophobe though. As soon as I get home from work with her we jump into the shower together to "wash the germs off"---so now whenever anyone is showering, Reese says that they are washing the germs away

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Honestly if you met Reese you would be as happy and hopeful and optimistic as we are. She is simply amazing, energetic and happy kid. If she didn't lose her hair you would have never known that she is sick. She is always smiling, laughing and in high spirits. With a child like that you can't help but be optimistic.

Just wanted to say I am so happy to hear your back to your new normal! I can not imagine the emoitions you have gone thru with the cards your family have been dealt. Reece is so brave & strong, & has a beautiful soul that shines thru in her smile. Thoughts & prayers with you all as you continue to fight this battle! Of course one of the unintentional consequences is we can't use the hospital as a threat---she LOVES it. In the past we would say---don't jump on the bed, you might fall and hurt yourself and go to the doctor/hospital. Now if we say it, she jumps higher.

The only thing in her mind that trumps a hospital visit is the ambulance ride.

ambulance ride > hospital > doctor.
