Hi ladies! My name is Allison, and my hubby and I started TTC in March. We've been married for a year and a half, and we've both always wanted a big family, so here goes Hubby is a gourmet chef, so we're broke but we eat like kings, and I'm a computer technician. I'm so excited about babies, but I was SO not prepared for the agony of the 2WW!! We've been trying for a whopping two months, but I'm already convinced that we're going to be terrible parents, or we'll never conceive, or *insert random catastrophe here*. Dang, son. I'm not an emotional girl, and I just have so many feelings!! What the crap! Anyway, baby dust to everybody

1) If you're broke, how will you afford a baby?

2) It can take a totally healthy couple up to a year to get pregnant.

3) No one likes baby dust.

1) Cost of a Maserati starts at 102K.  Cost to raise a child to 18 is 301K

2) I think PP was just trying to be helpful

3) Babies on the Brain doesn't mean TTC or pregnant.  I am neither.

I think some of these comments, while they may be trying to be "helpful," are only coming off as rude and insensitive. Nobody needs that! :-q

Anyway, congrats again! I am about to start my very first cycle TTC! Its extremely nerve wrecking but definitely exciting. Good luck and BABY DUST to you.

I said the way it came off was rude. Give her a break, she is excited and a ball of emotions, how about congratulating her first? Instead of jumping right in to questioning her finances and correcting her lingo.

The terms she used are considered rude in this social circle.  That was gently pointed out to her without rudeness.  And I don't know what to congratulate.

OP, I think this needs repeated: if you're broke, why are you trying for a baby? Get your shit together first. The little dudes aren't cheap. At all.
