Cloth Diapering

Love it or List it CD Version

I am really frustrated with my BGs. I just cannot get a good fit with them on DS anymore. I put them away in a drawer months ago (like maybe before Christmas), and even now I can't get the right combination of rise and waist snaps so that they fit him well. My stash is big enough without them while DS1 is the only one in OS diapers. What I can't decide is whether I should sell them or hang onto them in case they fit DS2. I'm hoping DS1 will potty train before DS2 is in OS, and there's a good chance that I have enough OS to fit them both should the need arise (especially if I was every day), so that would mean I don't really need to keep them. On the other hand, I would hate to sell these and then wind up needing to buy more diapers later b/c we don't have enough to get by comfortably. But on the first hand again, there's no guarantee that DS2 will fit the BGs either. Oh, decisions.

  • MK, sorry, they're not they collectibles. They're all just solids...4.0s and Freetimes.

I have that issue with BG too. They fit DS great early on, but now that he's a toddler they're just meh. Plus they've worn out really quickly compared to my other diapers. Granted they were the first pockets I tried but still... I've destashed all but two of mine and I'm fine with that. I've held on to two, but I much prefer the fit of Blueberry diapers. I now realize this is more anecdote than advice. Carry on.

    Yeah, which BGs are they?

Honestly, I'd hang onto them.  You're not that far from needing OS dipes for #2.  I'd hang in there a little longer, and if they don't fit #2, then sell them off.

  • I'd keep them. Especially since if they fit DS2 you can leave them all snapped to fit him, and that's less messing with snap settings for a 2 in CDs stash.

Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
    It all revolves around you.
  • I'm doing the same thoughts right now.  I have a bunch of 4.0's that are from DS1.  They worked well for him, but he wasn't a heavy wetter. I'm falling more and more in love with fitteds for DS2 because he is a heavy wetter.  The BGs can last him most of the time, but I love the security of a good fitted in case he takes a long nap or we have a long drive. We also cannot always get the perfect fit on him with the BGs, even with replaced elastics just because of his leg shape.  DH is also not a fan of the prints we have in BG (the Chelsea Perry ones) so he said we should get rid of them if I don't like them much either.

Or you could sell them and buy things you know you like and that you know fit with the money..

But what if she sells them and buys more stuff for #1, then he PTs, and she's stuck with dipes that don't work for #2?
I say it's worth the wait.

Our Fuzzibunz fit better now, but I think it has to do with the elastic. I got a new 4.0 for my son and I can tell the elastic on my older ones has taken a beating. It hardly has any stretch at this point.

Starting this week I'll be replacing them.

I'd keep them, I went through so many styles of diapers with my daughter. Even my husband had preference changes over the past 2 years.

  • You could sell most of them and use the money for diapers you like better, and keep a couple for #2 in case they are a good fit. Then if they are a good fit for #2 you'll have a good excuse to buy new colors and prints.
  • I would keep them. And I get rid of everything (seriously - I am the anti-hoarder).

BGs are nice diapers and you will probably get a good amount of use out of them with your 2nd baby even though they aren't fitting your toddler. I had similar fit issues with BGs on my toddler - at about 18 months I just couldn't get a good fit no matter what. I'm OAD so I sold mine, but if another baby was in my future I definitely would have kept them.

Also, you may very well have 2 kids in OS diapers - YS2 could be fitting into them in 4 months.

  • Okay, it does sound like it will make the most sense to keep them a bit longer. They worked okay for a while but haven't been used enough to need new elastic, so we'll wait and see.

At the risk of not recommending buying moar diapers and therefore getting kicked out of the CD cool kids group, I think I'd hold on to them.

DS2 fit BGs really well from like 2 month until 13 months or so.  Then they fit really weird for a while.  Now they're just meh.

I think there's a good chance your LO#2 will fit them well at least early on.  And as others have said, you could risk buying more of what you like for DS1, having him PL, and then being stuck with something that doesn't fit DS2.

You can always sell them if they don't fit DS2 well once he gets big enough for OS.
