Pregnant after IF

Sorry I know guys get a lot of this, but I had to ask (SIF lurker)

So I have been making rather large follicles and stupidly I googled large follies and all I'm finding are bad outcomes. We just had our IUI this morning and I had a 30mm average follicle (so was probably a little bigger than that in one of the two measurements) and DH finally had really good numbers but now all I can think is that his swimmers were wasted on a no good egg. So I'm here to ask if anyone ever had a big 30mm or larger follie and got KU? I'm not super optimistic I'm really just wondering if there's even a chance... Thanks and sorry to bother you guys I know you get these questions a lot. Shout to all our graduated ladies I have been so happy to see y'all's awesome updates in the check in every week!!!! :-h <:-P

TTC#1 May 2009- July 2010 on our own with no luck

Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man.  Born 12/2/11

TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended

Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good.  Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.

Back with RE as of January 2014...

5/27/14- Chemical Pregnancy :(

April 2015 IVF#1

5/13/15- BFP, please stick LO!

  • I did ivf so I have no clue what egg came from what follicle but I always had lead follicles around 26-28mm. With my first cycle i transferred one embie I got a BFN and the second cycle I transferred two embies and I'm pregnant with one. I really don't know if my baby was from my over achiever follicle or not but it's possible. What does your RE say? Google is honestly filled with more worry than it's worth and sometimes it's better to not look for things. Good luck with your cycle!

  • Thanks for the advice and I know I shouldn't have googled it, but my willpower was seriously lacking. It was a Femara cycle, clomid kills my lining.

No more Dr. Google!!! It messes with your head :)

Your doctor wouldn't have proceeded if it was not a good situation. I did IVF so I don't know which egg was the one, but I know I had a few huge ones. Fingers crossed!!!

  • Thanks so much for all the replies.  The seed of doubt was planted after my last IUI cycle failed where I had a 34mm follie and then when I met the RE on CD3 she was all we don't know that a follicle that big is a problem, but I'm not inclined to think to that its good.  Then I started with well if 34mm is likely too big, whats ok?  I always try to avoid googling these things.  I was just hoping to hear one sucess story with a large follie.  Oh well I'm settling into the TWW and just going to try and think about other things :) Thanks again for helpful replies and hopefully I'll get to be more than a lurker someday soon!

  • Did they not give you a trigger shot?  If not, ask why.  And if they did trigger you, ask why they waited so long to do it.
