School-Aged Children

Tests

I'm thinking this because I'm watching my 9th graders take one on Pride & Prejudice...

What grade is your child in and how often does your child take tests in school.  I mean actual content tests, not standardized tests like the Terra-Nova, ERBs, SOL, MAP-R, etc.

My DD is in 8th grade, so she has tests pretty frequently.  Her tests are usually in math, Spanish, and science, at the end of a unit.  English tends to have either in class writings or grammar/vocab quizzes.  I'm not sure what's up with her history class!  She never seems to have tests, projects, papers OR homework in there but somehow she suddenly knows a lot more than she used to about early American history, so something good is going on in that class!

DS is in 3rd.  He has a spelling test every other Friday and smaller "assessments" in language arts and math, but he doesn't really have bigger unit tests yet.
