P finally started getting the hang of "swimming" last night in his class. It was so cute to see him kicking his feet around!
We have an evaluation with Early Intervention today and the PT is going to recommend that his therapy be reduced to every other week. I'm so happy with his progress!
We are taking our first big trip with DD tomorrow. Our flight leaves at 6 am from Richmond and we are headed for Seattle to visit my sister! (And BIL and three nieces too ) I'm a little nervous about how it'll go, but hoping DD handles it well.
@stephyfaith GL on a smooth trip and have fun! @simone711 Enjoy your day!! Chores can always wait for another day! @NKaeding I hate humid weather. It's just awful. I can tell this summer is going to be a bad one.

So I was at my mil's on Sunday and she tells LO to "do nice", DH has been saying this. Insert a million frickin cringes right here. Why the hell would you teach an infant to talk like that? It is obviously a family thing but why in the mother of all mothers would you not say BE nice. Let's teach our child to talk like that. When I asked him if he would let his older children get away with it, he responded "it's not the same thing". So how do children learn to talk then???? Is anyone else getting this already!????
This is probably my biggest pet peeve EVER and one of the many things I can't stand about my MIL.
My nephew talks like a moron. It's not his fault and I correct him every time I hear it, but it doesn't stick because MIL is stupid.
"aww is her hungry?" "Did him poop his pants?" "her looks so sleepy." "him needs his mimi"
For fuck sake, PEOPLE DO NOT TALK LIKE THIS. My nephew cannot form a proper sentence he's fucking 3 and says her needs her cup Carrie, did him fall down... FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.... I cannot STAND it. How is that at all helpful? Imagine the fixing an actual teacher will have to do. Not helpful at all, poor kid.
I correct my MIL when she talks like this to my kids, we don't do baby talk. Period. Josephine speaks better than my nephew who will be FOUR in July.
DD has a new game she likes to play. It is called thumbs. Either she touches her thumbs together or we hold a thumb out for her to touch with her thumb. It is the cutest game.
@Dccornel My husband says "I seen it" sometimes... bleh, I don't correct him unless we are alone because he is self conscious about how he speaks. Clearly she spoke to him the same way too.
Awful. Plus, yoga pants are a sin? Off with his head!!
I want to punch him in the head, throat, balls, etc. WTAF! I'm already pissed this morning and that did not help.
I can't even open that. What is wrong with people.
I read it he's a moron.
The universities out here always have someone or another spouting some nonsense at some point. I pay no attention to them. They are usually homeless or lookijg for attention.

Moron is a good word! There are a few other choice words I would like to say also.
Mh just got off the roof of our house. The quick masonry job on our chimeny tomorrow isn't going to be quick or cheap as thought. Guess who isn't in a good mood now??! Today is going to suck.
I am the most distracted unpacker ever. I will never finish. I keep finding side tasks that must be done immediately. For example: just replaced all the outlet and switch covers because they were that ugly fake wood (and that's obviously an urgent task). Oh, and since our desk fell apart in the move I have no where to put office stuff so I must order a new one. Then I guess we should buy a computer for it. Then maybe now I can unpack the desk boxes. Sigh.

Speaking of incorrect speaking... I hate when people use stupid made-up words for stuff, especially genitals. While we were on vacation with my ILs my MiL was like 'I have to wipe your woo-woo'
No.
She doesn't have a woo-woo. She has a vagina and a vulva. There's nothing wrong with using the correct, clinical terms. I'm not going to call it something 'vulgar' to my baby ('You've got poo in your cunt, mommy has to get that out!' ha no) but I don't see anything wrong with the accurate, scientific terms for my own family. Drives me crazyyyy
(y'all can call your own kids' genitals whatever you want though, IDGAF)
I hate this too.
My parents use the proper, scientific terms as do we. But combining with yesterday's supper thread with its side commentary about "worsh-cloths"...my sweet, but prud-ish, country hick mother, mispronounces the word vagina. In her words, it's a VER-gina.
Sorry Etoille! That sucks. I hate office days like that.
Dh is about to start the second interview. He bought a new tie for it. Ok I picked it out and it's dang sharp looking. I'm more nervous than he is.
LO just vomited up the majority of his breakfast over the side of his highchair. I may or may not have woken the dog up to assist in the clean up.

Marnie had a pretty significant speech delay, so using baby talk when she was little gave her easy to pronounce alternatives when she had trouble communicating.
Now that she's almost three she says train instead of beep-beep, and medicine instead of dub-dubs, and a whole host of other things.
Just because you use baby words with babies doesn't mean you continue to use them. They pick up correct speech pretty quickly once they're capable.
Also I don't use vagina or vulva with her. It just seems strange. I just call them 'private parts' or 'privates'. I'm just not comfortable saying vagina to my children.
Oh yeah, another update on Amanda. We got in with a paediatrician yesterday (autocorrect just changed paediatrician to podiatry ion. What in the world?).
She passed all the neurological tests and development milestones. Things like passing objects hand to hand, touching with alternate hands, eye response and focusing.
They said it looks like everything is doing what it should in her brain. The catcher is that DH had a seizure once that was really similar to what Amanda did (I was a week overdue with Marnie and STILL didn't go into labour even with a fright like that).
So we're getting an EEG (I think? Or an ECG or an acronym that is similar?) just as due diligence to make sure everything is hunky dory.
But we're now 99.9% sure it was just a sleep episode. Whew.
Silas had black beans for dinner last night and his poop today looked like a chocolate chip cookie. Probably less delicious though. TMI?

I am a cranky badger today. This is no good. I'm trying to snap out of it but it's not happening. I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed now but I shouldn't because if I plan accordingly I should be ok. I have to make 10 dozen cupcakes and a small wedding cake on Saturday for a wedding on Sunday.... The kicker is that I'm in the wedding so Saturday also includes a rehearsal ceremony at noon and rehearsal dinner at 5 that's 40 minutes out of town plus I have to pack up lo for my parents house and dh is working. Dh just walked in the door with a whole farms worth of chicken breasts that I have to deal with (like 50 breasts, omg). Right now I'm a whining whiner who whines! Sorry peeps!
I was just thinking (as I was cleaning the floor) about a co-worker who had a 'procrastination formula' that he did a presentation on at a meeting (reminder: engineers. Sigh).
So apparently the chance that you'll procrastinate goes up if you're not sure whether you're going to be successful. After being at home for a year, I can honestly say that I'm 100% sure the house will be clean if I clean it. But I still procrastinate like hell.
Maybe it's because I know it gets dirty again in about 12 hours.
@thegoodpotato wow, you get 12 whole hours? I'm lucky if I get 2 before the place is trashed again! No one (DH included) but me knows how to pick up after themselves. It's always got to be by my instruction.
@carrie3102 yeah I overestimate. Although to be fair, it's more like it gets messy within 30 minutes, but it's definitely dirty by the end of the day with dogs shedding and bringing dirt in from outside, and kids spilling things.
Since we're talking about correct clinical terms for private parts, I should confess that I don't know exactly which part is the vulva, vagina, labia, and whatever else is down there. If I need to know, I ask DH or google it. But I never remember. I blame my prudish parents and catholic school sex-ed. And I'm just not that interested. DH however, is very interested.

Any bets on who will be first to post the diagram?
