Pregnant after IF

New to IF...just lost second tube...question for those without tubes

I just lost my second tube...first was removed back in Sept along with my left ovary because of a dermoid cyst. Thursday they discovered I had an ectopic pregnancy and my tube had already ruptured so it couldn't be saved. I am new to IF...I have no clue how any of this works and I'm feeling very overwhelmed and discouraged. I had a miscarriage in June and again in August and now all of this. In less than a year I have lost 3 babies and 3/4 of my reproductive organs. This just doesn't even seem real.

All I have left is my right ovary and of course my uterus. Someone mentioned to me that IVF may be an option. (I'm such an IF dummy I just assumed that no tubes meant no babies) My post op from my lap is this Thursday so I plan on discussing any options with my OB but I was just curious to hear other experiences. Anyone here ever had any success with IVF without tubes and only one ovary?

IVF or adoption??

  • I'm sorry sweets. You've had a very rough time with it all! I don't have experience with no tubes, but I will say, don't give up hope. It's still very possible to do IVF with your ovary and uterus... that's all you really need anyways :) I'll also second the infertility board, that was my life saver when I was going through IVF! Best of luck to you!

@southernbelle82 You would be a perfect canidate for IVF. IVF was originally designed for women with tubal issues. I had both of my tubes removed (due to endometrios) and have finally been successful with IVF. IVF is usually perfect option for girls missing tubes as that's the "easiest" infertility to treat. If the tubes are missing, all you need ot do is bypass the tubes and that's what IVF does! You definatley still have a fighting chance :)

  • Hi,
I had both of my tubes removed in August due to hydrosalpinx ( blockage of both tubes)... Ivf worked for me first cycle... Good luck to you. Feel free to ask other questions - even personal messages if needed...
  • I’m sorry for your losses.  I’ve had two ectopic pregnancies and as a result one Fallopian tube was removed and the other (which probably should have been removed) is heavily damaged. Our doctor told us it’s dangerous to try and conceive with our remaining fallopian tube so we went ahead with IVF and got our bfp from our first IVF cycle.

If IVF is something you’d like to peruse, I’d suggest getting a referral from your OB for an RE and setting up an appointment to sit down and talk. I agree with the other girls the Infertility board is a great place to go to for support! Best of luck to you!!
