A little behind, introducting whole milk...

So our pediatrician told us to just try whole milk right away, not mixed with formula, so I did and she did not like it. When mixing the two, are you just substituting the water for milk mixed with the formula? I know dumb question maybe but wanna make sure I do it right. Thanks!

  • i mixed just for a week while i was finishing up formula....we did like 3oz formula made normal way...and then 3 oz of straight milk.

  • Exactly what PPs said.  Also, I would pour myself a small glass and then let DD sip from it when we were intro'ing.  She always wants whatever I'm eating or drinking so this time it worked in my favor.  There are still random days when she doesn't drink any milk but she eats cheese and yogurt so we're not worried.  Good luck!
  • Thank you so much everyone! I love milk so hopefully she'll be like her mama! :)

  • We did a slow wean. My daughter is a little bit picky. She would only drink her formula warm and it's the same with milk. I started shortly after she turned 11 months. I did one oz of milk to 5 oz of formula. I went up an oz each week until it was half milk and half formula. We just completely weaned all the way to milk a month ago when she was 14 months. We still warm milk in a bottle in the morning and evening before bed. I agree with PP as she eats way more cheese, yogurt and other diary/calcium rich foods.
  • I got lucky and my little guy just took the milk and went on with his life.
If he hadn't I had planned to mix half formula and half milk and then slowly increase the amount of milk and decrease the amount of formula until it was all milk.
    Good luck.
