TTC Check-In

Good Morning TTC Folks!

How is your/your partner's TTC journey going? Where are you in the process and how are you feeling?

QOTW: What is something simple in life that you find pleasure in?

Me: 30  DW (aka C): 29

Together since 2/15/11 ~ Legally married in NY on 9/29/12

***CP mentioned***

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

 ****All Welcome!****

We are Mommas to four fur babies - 3 dogs and 1 cat.

Re: TTC Check-In

  • CD 17 for me today. Just as a recap, IUI # 6 was cancelled last week because I over responded to the meds again and we do not want to take the chance of high order multiples. We were able to get approved for a loan that will cover the costs of IVF for us. So, we will be moving to IVF. Our consult is set for May 21st.

In the meantime, just waiting for AF. I have no idea what to expect. Last time I over responded, my body crashed from stopping the meds and I had some bleeding for two days and then it stopped. I ended up having my longest cycle ever and had to use Provera to get started again. I did not use Ovidrel this cycle so that I can save it for IVF. From everything I have noticed in my body, I believe that I have ovulated.

My plan is to start BCP with this next cycle. I'm not sure if I will start whatever protocol I will have with this cycle or if we will wait a cycle.

I have to say, I feel like I have emerged from the cloud of fertility meds. I felt more like myself yesterday than I have in a long time. I know IVF will be worse, but it is nice to feel like me again, even for a little bit. I'm sure C appreciates it as well.

QOTW: I love the smell of fresh air. I also really find pleasure being on the back of the bike with C. I love the wind blowing in my face sometimes. Being on the bike is my time to really think about things and process stuff. I also love to look around and take in all of the beauty of nature around us.

I have been on BCP since April 21st. and will take my last pill on May 19th. Thank goodness! For some reason Reclipsen has just been horrible to me. On top of the acne and weight gain, it makes me very moody and depressed. As if I wasn't all ready down in the dumps about the results of my last IUI. Its been a rough few weeks.

I called the pharmacy last Friday and placed my order for all my IVF medication. It will arrive tomorrow. Can't believe how BIG the order is! On May 14th I will start Lupron. A little nervous about all the stories I have been hearing and reading but, I will just take it one day at a time. On May 20th I have B/US and if all my cysts are gone then I will start with the rest of the medication.

QOTW: I love living a few blocks from the beach. Even though I'm not a huge fan of sand, I find it very peaceful and relaxing. Going for a walk with L and our dog Milly is probably one of my favorite simple pleasures.

  • Heyo!  I'm responding well to Follistim (woo hoo!) and have 3 nice sized follies on my left, one on my right.  I'm taking 150 iu of Follistim tonight, triggering tomorrow night, and then IUI on Thursday.  SUCH a relief because I have a half-day retreat at work on Wednesday and it would be bad if I had to miss it.  I'm going to take Thursday and Friday off of work so I can relax.  C's birthday is this weekend and it'll be fun to celebrate :) Lots of things to look forward to this month so I am happy.  I hope injectables did the trick for me this cycle!  So far, so good!  I'm going to do acupuncture right after my IUI.  Good times.

GTKY: It's hard to narrow down simple pleasures... a nice meal, an exciting book, sitting on the couch with my cat on my lap, warm breezes, car rides through the country, a cold drink of water on a hot afternoon, bold red wine... Just a few of my favorite things :)

  • Hi Girls!!
I just called the Aetna infertility hotline.  Does anyone have any experience with this bureaucratic sh*t? Do they pay for anything?  We have been completely out of pocket for everything, since October, and while I know some women who pay $20k monthly for IVF....we just cant...any advice from anyone who knows anyone who got Aetna to help would be so appreciated....

anywho....im 8dpo (2 insems this month)  I spot before AF usually around now, and the spot came this am...and i feel like such a loser!  I did my spit microscope, and I have partial ferning...mixed reviews on the interweb as to what that means....any ideas???  Sorry..I have ALOT of questions today!  I'm at my wits end!(prob PMS)

I find so much pleasure in pomegranates.

  • We are CD 3. Sarah is at RE office now while I'm stuck at work. Pretty sure the plan will be to start follistim again today and try IUI 1 more time. After that we are IVF bound. :/

We were really hoping to have baby through IUI so that our saving could go for stuff FOR baby rather than TO HAVE baby.

Sarah just text to say she has to have a saline ultrasound Friday.

I find simple pleasure in my fur baby Roxie. Our lil morning/night snuggles are some of my favorite moments of the day. Sarah actually gets jealous of her and calls her my wife!

    Bonus pip of fur baby

    10 medicated IUI's (3 with injectables).
IUI #1 (medicated) Jan. 2013-BFP!!!!- Beta's didn't double, MTX shot for possible ectopic.
    8 IUI's between April 13-April 14 = BFN
IUI #10 and final before IVF, injectables May 2014- BFP!!!!  TWINS!!!!

7 week ultrasound showed 2 wonderful heartbeats!
8 weeks to the ER with vaginal bleeding while on vacations!  Diagnosed SubChorionic Hemorrhage.  Babies are both great.
9 week ultrasound showed both babies are still great.
  • @HollynLeana‌ - I have no experience with Aetna, but can tell you that IVF coverage is usually limited or nothing at all.

Our IVF cycle will not be anywhere near $20K, but it still isn't something that we have laying around. We went to my work credit union and got a loan that we can afford the monthly payments on. I know our RE's office also offers a payment plan, but the monthly payments are more than we can swing.

Fortunately, my insurance provides excellent IUI coverage. We have decided to switch to IVF because of the toll each cycle is taking on us. The drive time and early mornings and long days have really gotten to us both. It is incredibly disappointing to put so much time into a cycle and not even be able to have a chance to do an IUI. So, more debt here we come! With more debt comes better odds though. For that, we are moving forward.

  • @stacylh24 --- debt!!  We live in CT and it seems that everything (not just RE treatments) here is more expensive!  Our IUI is $2500 not counting the sperm. it seems excessive. I am waiting for Aetna to call me back. I have been reading that they really give you the run around.  I really hope your IVF works!

  • BFN over the weekend, now waiting for the next cycle to start. I am eager to move on the next try, but uncertain how medications affected the cycle length. Would have been touching to have a BFP over Mother's Day weekend. Hoping that next year it will be a different story.

  • @HollynLeana I have Aetna and as far as I know nothing is covered other then the initial infertility testing.  Although I never put in the work of contacting Aetna I just trusted what I was told at the RE.

I am about 9 days away from my next period.  I just have to decide whether I want to get an IUI in June or wait for July there are pros and cons on both sides.  I really want to get this show on the road but there is so much going on in June that it may make sense to wait one more month.

QOTW: I enjoy spending time with my dogs whether cuddled on the couch or playing in the yard.  Something so comforting about the unconditional love of an animal.

  • @Mellebee‌ - I'm sorry about your BFN. Hopefully next year will be a different story for us all. Fertility meds have certainly impacted each of my cycles. I never know what to expect any more and long ago gave up on what was "normal" for me for a cycle.
