Hi everyone!

Lots of newbies over the past couple weeks. Sorry you all find yourselves here, but so glad you found our little corner of the internet .

Well, last week we had a growth scan and glucose test - and sadly, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I was/am so bummed out . I've been so careful with my eating and also have been very faithful on exercise. I've only gained 5 lbs. so far!! Seems doing all the right things just doesn't always matter (excuse my brief pity party). I know it's not the end of the world, but I am just super bummed out to have all the pressure of being perfect about my eating/exercising - whereas to now I could just "do my best" and know it was kind of 80/20 - now it really has to be 100%.

I meet with the nutritionist at my MFM clinic on Tuesday, and I'll start testing my blood sugars and then we'll figure a treatment plan. I hate the idea of taking oral meds as none are 100% proven safe for pregnancy, and insulin is the safest (plus I had yucky side effects from those oral meds in the past) - so I'm going to ask to go right to insulin. I have no problem sticking myself...I already do it now for my lovenox every day...  I 'failed' so well I get to skip the 3-hour test even so hopefully we'll know more Tuesday.

Otherwise, baby is fine (just big for now), and I'm doing well other than feeling a wee defeated by this news.

QOTW: There is no "X" in Espresso. "Expresso" is not a word, and it drives me nuts when people say it that way! Esssssssssss-presso.

My update: I got positive opk tests last night and this am so my IP's are coming tonight for insems. We are only going to get 2 in since they have to leave early tues am but hopefully we will get positive results!!

Question of the wk: I can't stand under planners. I have lists all over and plan way ahead for everything. I have a hard time with people who just fly by the seat of their pants (like my hubby unfortunately!!)

@2MamazinSeattle, sorry to hear about the GD. What a major burden to have to live so perfectly. It all seems so arbitrary, so don't beat yourself up too much. This is not your fault, and you're going to do what you have to do to take care of yourself and your beautiful babe!

We are going to our second egg donor consult today. Hopefully I won't cry the whole time through this one like I did the last time! I think I am more ready to hear about it this time. When comparing these two clinics through the SART report, it seems that they are comparable... Clinic A did 63 fresh transfers with a 73% live-birth rate and 154 frozen transfers with a 40% live-birth rate. Clinic B did 123 fresh transfers with a 68% live-birth rate and 26 frozen transfers with a 35% live-birth rate. So I guess it comes down to the donor selection? Anyone have any thoughts on this? I still feel pretty lost!!

QOTW: I get so irritated when people don't listen or read simple directions.

Hi, everybody!  All is well here.  Only 2 months + 1 week to go until my due date!  Holy cow.  I'm feeling fine, but am starting to get a few 3rd Tri pregnancy complaints like bigger/swollen feet.  Also I can't really vacuum or mop anymore or I get sciatic pain.  Darn.

2Mamaz:  I'm sorry about the GD.  It seems so random in whom it strikes sometimes.  

Daydreamer:  Good luck at your consult.  One thing to consider along with the stats is the average # of embryos transferred in DE cycles.  Some places pump their stats by discouraging eSETS.  A clinic that has a 70% success rate that transfers 1.5 embies a cycle (so ~half their cycles are eSETS) is likely better than one that has the same success rate but transfers 2 a cycle (so an average of none of their cycles are eSETs, which is practically indefensible these days IMO).  Check this out regardless of how many you intend to transfer.

PAIF UPDATE

AFM: Nothing new really. I have an OB appointment on Thurs and I'm not quite sure what they're going to do since my MFM is now managing my GD and they aren't planning on an ultrasound. But Saturday we have an elective 3d ultrasound with one of those boutique imaging places. We got a groupon a while back and I can't wait to see LO again. My MIL will be joining us and I'm super excited. 

QOTW: My pet peeve is when someone says they are going to do something, and they don't. I don't care if someone resets expectations with me and lets me know something changed and they can no longer meet whatever commitment they made (no matter how big or small) but it drives me out of my mind when someone just doesn't do what they say that they are going to do. Ugh.

AFM Yesterday was a hard day. I stupidly decided to take a wondfo yesterday and it was a BFN. I thought it would be fun to get a BFP on Mother's day, but no luck. I keep reminding myself that 4dpt is really early for a BFP and my wondfos aren't as sensitive as a FRER. I also realized that my due date from my chemical pregnancy is 2 months from yesterday. I really thought that I would be pregnant before my due date, but if this cycle is a bust I don't think that is going to be possible. I just have a feeling that this cycle is going to be a BFN. I am testing tomorrow with a FRER, I hope I am pleasantly surprised.

QOTW: Wrong word usage (two/to/too, then/than, etc.) drives me up the wall. Ooh and my coworker that clips his fingernails at his desk, just hearing it makes me want to puke.

Really really thought it was going to work.. just like all the rest of you on your first attempt My early birthday present (end of month) from my boss is that they are going to pay for my FET. Not sure if I want that to happen but they said I have been with them for 20 yrs..since their youngest was 4 weeks old and they are paying no matter what I say lol.

Coordinator is going to talk to Dr if there is anything different we can do. Hoping we can start ASAP. 46 coming up soon

QOTW: I agree with all your pet peeves!! I hate when speed limit is 35 and car in front of me is going like 15. Drives be bonkers.

Hi ladies! Happy Monday. 2mamaz, I'm so sorry about your GD. That stinks when you've been so careful about everything! I have a feeling if I ever get pregnant that I will have some issues too - like GD or high blood pressure or swelling. I'm already paranoid about stuff like that and I'm not even pregnant! LOL.

Update: my transfer is Friday! Woot woot!

QOTW: I HATE when people interrupt me or anyone else for that matter, before they're done talking. I'm sensitive to it because my mother and brother are the WORST at it!

My first monitoring appointment was this morning wasn't great news. They tried a new protocol (no lupron suppression) and it doesn't seem to be going well. Waiting for the nurse to call back with E2 levels and figure out how to proceed....

Squirt and our GC are doing good. Our GC is experiencing some back pain (new thing for her) and is going to start PT for it this week. She NEVER complains, so I know it must be hurting her pretty badly. I hope she can find some relief with PT.

We saw lots of rainbows this weekend and I am hoping it is a good sign of Squirt being our take home baby.

PAIF Check-In: Last Friday I went out for a girl's night for the first time in probably over a year and was having a lot of fun, until I started spotting. We were just watching a movie so I'm not sure what caused it. It freaked me out since it's been at least 10 weeks since I've had spotting. The on call dr said to go home, rest, and to go to L&D if I had any contractions or the bleeding got worse. Thankfully the last time I bled was at 2 am Sat morning and I've felt fine otherwise. My first shower is this weekend and it's 3.5 hrs away so I was scared I wouldn't be able to go. I'm really looking forward to it!!

QOTW: One of my pet peeves is when people go the wrong way in parking lots, especially when the lanes are narrow. Follow the painted arrows, it's really simple! Otherwise it forces the person going the right way to accommodate you...so inconsiderate. One time I was in a terrible mood and a lady in a huge F250 tried this, which meant I would have had to backup and pull to the side to let her pass. I wouldn't budge so she drove off all crazy while flipping me the bird.

When people say verbal when they mean oral. Writing, speaking, or anything else that involves words is verbal. Oral is not a dirty word -- no reason to avoid saying it!

It's pronounced (and spelled) et cetera, not ec cetera!

Oh, and people who honk when it cannot possibly do any good.

Check in: Our carrier got her PICC line out and is feeling great. It's a huge relief to know that she isn't sick anymore. She had an appointment with her OB after the line came out and her DH recorded to ultrasound on his phone and they sent it to us. We've never been anywhere near this pregnant before and I can't believe how big the baby is already! 

QOTW: Ignorance. I hate when people take the "ostrich in the sand" approach and pretend they see/hear/know nothing...especially at work. It drives me BSC.

Check-In: Things are going fine.  Had RE appt and he's fine with my sister and I using same donor.  He's also "intrigued" with possibly doing an IVF cycle with my own egg before going straight to donor, so we're weighing pros & cons of that.  Sister is taking a break anyway, so there's no great hurry.

QOTW: I do believe mine have all been covered.  Right now my "boss" (my fiance) is my biggest pet peeve - it's hard working and living together.

AFM: I'm 10w5 days today and will finally be released by RE tomorrow! I had an OB appt on Friday and both babies were great on the u/s. Unfortunately, I was uncomfortable with the OB's knowledge of lovenox and 2 copies of mthfr as she asked me when I'd stop lovenox... It didn't instill confidence for me. So I decided to transfer care today to an MFM who delivers. First appt is 5/20.


2Mamas-- you can update my EDD to 12/2 but I'm sure they'll arrive in November!


Pet peeves: pantyhose with open toe shoes, "implanting embryos", "fertility report" (it's fertilization report..) I have many!

@2MamazInSeattle‌ Sorry about the GD. Not exactly the same since I was diagnosed with type 2 a few years ago (during chemo since apparently 1 disease wasn't enough)., but I know it stinks. I can say that I switched from oral meds to insulin before our IVF and it really isn't bad. Much easier than lovanox :-) Not much going on here. Feeling pretty good but by the end of the day my feet have doubled in size. Looking forward to next Tuesday since we get to see Gracie at my mfm appointment and should be able to schedule my c section at my ob appointment Nd then we have our baby basics class at night...all baby, all day :-)

Pet peeve: incorrect word usage, especially should of for should have.

Thanks for the welcome and for adding me to the list! Nothing happening here in IF world. Got some prices for frozen and fresh donor egg cycles and I'm a little overwhelmed. Wondering why I still hold out hope of a natural pregnancy every month. It's so silly, but I still hope.. Pet peeve: oh, my. I have so many. Today, it's people that are in my waiting room and waiting for their appointment (I'm an eye doc and was just a few mins behind today) and complaining about it. Then, as soon as you call them back...they ask for the restroom.. Really? What were you doing for the last 15 mins? Lol..

Hi ladies  We've scheduled our phone consult for May 28th with Dr. Duffy at FIRM.  Our first transfer was with Dr. Winslow but I didn't have a great experience, at least not what I expected, so we decided to switch.  I'm hoping that Dr. Duffy will have some answers for us and a new plan for our 2nd transfer.  Hopefully we won't have to do a 3rd.  We have 3 embryos left and I'm pretty sure we are transferring 2 again.  That only leaves 1 snowflake.  I'm getting anxious about the consult already.  I'm just hoping he has some answers for us and acknowledges the concerns that I have.  I asked DH what our next step would be if this transfer failed and he immediately said adoption.  I'm just not sure if I'm ready to close the door on carrying my own child yet.

AFM~ I go for my GD test next Thursday.  Ugh, I'm nervous.  Babies got measured the other day,  baby boy is 2 lb 5 oz and Baby Girl is 2 lbs 3 oz.  Everything looks good.  I was in the hospital a week ago for dehydration so I feel better knowing that they are fine.

Pet peeves~ People that put the wrong stuff in the dish washer at work .  Just found the cast iron skillet in there... grrrrrr

AFM: No update, just waiting for my lap which is 10 days from now.

QOTW: DH has been trying to quit smoking since Sept. and is doing a terrible job. He has really only stopped buying them, and then bums him off his dad, who lives in our basement (another annoyance). I'm annoyed he's not making a real effort to quit and more annoyed when he smokes with the door open. The smoke still comes inside and it makes everything stink. I'm tired of telling him to close the freaking door when he's smoking!!!!

I'm getting irritated reading all these pet peeves because they bug me too, LOL!! 

Our second DEgg consult today was pretty awesome. I'm happy to report that I didn't cry once today! We felt much more comfortable at this clinic, and are mostly confident that this will be the better choice for us. But I admit that I'm still not ready to take the plunge yet. I'm getting there, but I'm having a really hard time moving on. 

The match coordinator was probably the most helpful out of anyone I've spoken to... she said, no one but you will be able to tell when and if you're ready to move on. For her, it was a sudden realization that she was ready to move on, and that's something you can't rush. I think we need to do a few more cycles on our own or an IUI or two just to give my eggs one last try. In my head, logically speaking, I believe that we'll be heading for DE. 

But our last IVF cycle, I honestly thought it was going to work, and I didn't let myself think about what would come next if it failed. I think I need to try a few more cycles with the thought that "this is our last shot with my eggs" in order to come to a peaceful place with all of this. We stopped by the library on the way home, and I checked out a few books about egg donation. I really do see myself coming around, but I feel like I owe it to myself and my eggs to give them a final chance.

Afm- had my cervical stitch placed yesterday... It went as well as it could have gone.

Transfer is 5/28... Fx transfer goes smoothly with my RE doing it
(I swear, he is the most skilled Dr I've ever had) and having this stitch in place... And the extra Valium I requested!

Qotw - Bad tippers!! My husband and I definitely over tip, but seriously people, stop being so damn cheap!!!
If you are tipping, you have just received a service (out for dinner, even pizza delivery) and these people get paid horribly and rely on their tips!!

Check-In: Just got my beta results back from my doctor and they are sitting at 2031, which appears to be all good. It's just two weeks now until my first ultrasound, where I'll find out exactly how pregnant I am and when my real estimated due date is.

2nd US today showed baby measuring at 9w and with a heartbeat of 171, but I am 8w5d. Est due date is 12/19. We have another US with RE clinic in 2 weeks, 5/28. Also seeing our obgyn on 5/27. If all goes well on 5/28 scan we will graduate from RE office. My husband thinks that baby is a boy because of the high heartbeat, only time will tell.

Tardiness is my #1 pet peeve!!!!

Thank you for adding me to the check-in!  Currently I am STILL waiting for the agency to respond back to my application.  I am going to reach out to another agency next week if I can't get a reply by then. I am still feeling really excited about going through the process and can't wait to start.

My biggest pet peeve is people who Facebook selfies all the time.  I like seeing an occasional one here and there, but I have someone I had to unsubscribe to because she posted them all day long.  But maybe I am just jealous that I never have time to just sit around and do that

AFM: The ED is taking way longer to stim then they thought, so transfer now been pushed back again (3x) she has a US Thursday so I hope that she looks ready then, got everything crossed [-O< all I can do is be packed & ready & wait...

Lining check went well!  It was an 11 and looked "perfect" according to my RE.  We shall see!  I started the PIO injections last night and transfer is on Tuesday!!  I can't concentrate on anything!  COME ON TUESDAY!

Hi guys! I'm back now properly I think. My father-in-law died two and a half weeks ago, and Laire kind of had a bit of a mental breakdown, but she's actually started therapy, and everything seems to have went back to normal really.

Check-In: It's all go here! Laire and @Astrabacus are both on birth control, and I went for an ultrasound yesterday to make sure everything is still okay, and it is.

QOTW: People who go out for something to eat and are dissatisfied with the food (it's not what they ordered, it's cold or whatever) and go on and on about it, but don't send it back. Like, either send it back or shut up.

Today is 9dp6dt and BFN on a FRER. Beta is Monday, but I am already calling this cycle a bust. I am sending in my paperwork for Dr. KK and will be on a treatment break until we see her and get our test results back, so probably late fall. I think we'll probably give donor embryos another try, but I have also been looking at RBA's frozen egg guarantee program. We would probably do a double donor cycle, since DH has slight MFI issues as well. There program is expensive, but it would be worth every penny if it brings us our take home baby.
