Pregnant after a Loss

Need some reassurance today

I am 18 weeks and 4 days currently...and I don't think I have felt the baby yet...I know that's normal and it can take a while with first time moms, and I wasn't especially slim to begin with...but I am still nervous something is wrong because I am not feeling those "butterflies" yet!  I had an U/S two weeks ago and everything was fine and I am going in for my a/s on Wednesday.

  • Totally normal...both to not feel anything and to be worried as a PgAL'er.

That's totally normal, especially for your first that you don't really know what you are looking for yet.  My doctor old me, if it felt like I had gas, but didn't have gas, that's the baby.  Good luck at your a/s!

  • Agreeing with PPs!! It's normal especially depending on your ute, size, placenta position, etc. I know there are several things that can contribute to not feeling anything at your stage. I actually felt my dd (my first) around 15 weeks but this one was way later more like 18-19 weeks. In the meantime, I will say a prayer that your LO make his/her movements known to you very soon!!!

  • Totally normal. I didn't feel my first baby until 20 weeks or so. And with my son, it wasn't until around 18 weeks and I knew exactly what I was looking for. And even then, it was sporadic.

  • I feel the same anxiety!  This is my second, so I feel like I should be feeling something by now...  and I have had some "maybe" flutters, but I cannot tell exactly.  Thinking of you and wishing you a great a/s!

  • I never felt "flutters"... It felt like a fish moving in the bag on the way home from the pet store to me.  I only knew for sure that the feeling was our LO when I saw him move on the US along with the feeling...  It's hard being a PgAL mom.  Stay strong!

  • I didn't feel anything - nothing, zip, nada, zilch - until almost 21 weeks. The first movements also felt more like muscle twinges to me than butterflies, so it took me awhile to be sure.

Now the little squirt won't sit still. :)

I know it's so nerve-wracking to wait, but trust that your LO is doing what he/she needs to do in there. When you do feel those first movements, it will be beautiful.

    Hugs.
