Ramsay needs to die so I don't have to watch him anymore. I can't believe Asha defied her father and brought her men all the way to Ramsay's house of madness just to be like OH NO DOGS BAI. And now I have to watch Reek/Theon pretend to be Sane!Theon for some as-yet-unknown Ramsay scheme? Kill me.
Other thoughts on this episode:
- Oh, it's Stannis. I could not pick this guy out of lineup. So far his main kingly talent is being indignant.
- At least there was no Jon Snow/Night's Watch this episode. I feel like if Tyrion did get sent up north it'd be the only thing to make those subplots tolerable. Or maybe Jon Snow would just drag it down with his constipated face.
- I love Tyrion forever. Peter Dinklage is a genius. His speech is so powerful and the pain on his face is perfect when Shay gives her testimony. I can't wait to see what happens to the character.
- Good on Daenerys for actually learning how to rule before she runs off to lay waste to King's Landing. Although girlfriend looks like she could use a drink. Paging Cersei.
How do you know it was Tywin that got to Shae??!???
I don't; I guess it could have been Cersei. It's just that, from what we know of Shae's character, she wouldn't call herself a whore like that. We know next to nothing about her background, but it doesn't make sense that she'd lie about Tyrion (and Sansa) AND humiliate herself just for funsies.
Maybe daddy told Shae that if she lied, he'd spare her lovers life, if not he'd have him beheaded/killed. I wouldn't want to think that she would be so stupid and bitter as to betray her lion, Tyrion. Although she was getting pretty jealous with Sansa, I really hope she could see Tyrion sending her away for fear of her life and not because he wanted Sansa
What about Varys? Varys knew that Shae was there with Tyrion, so was it him? Now let's not forget one time before Varys offered her the chance to leave and she wouldn't.
Varys could be interesting as a co-conspirator. Still though, I just see why Shae has any motivation to lie. Someone could have told her "lie and we'll give him mercy" but I think she's been around the block long enough to know that's a huge lie (especially if it came from Cersei). At least with Tywin, he was looking for a way to make Jaime do his bidding and Tyrion is a soft spot.
@mbenit4 ...I just always got the sense that she does things on her own terms. Not a prostitute like Roz, for example. I don't know, the whole thing just didn't sit right.
I don't think it's too hard to believe she'd lie for money. She did seem pretty spiteful and jealous of Sansa. Maybe it was to give Tyrion mercy, maybe for money, or maybe she jumped off that boat all by herself to do something hurtful to Tyrion.
I think Shae's main motivation is to get back at Tyrion. He spurned her and called her a whore--she repeated it in the trial as a message to him. I also think she is likely being paid by Cersei.
