Mother's Day Fails

We went to pick up DS from Sunday School and saw a line of little handprint paintings in the hallway drying, I got so excited and looked around for his...only to find my kid was the only one who reused to do a craft for mommy. I got a blank piece of paper with a cutesy little poem about how you can look back someday at how small his hand once was. What a punk.

He also refuses to take any pictures with me.

Other than that it's been a nice day so far I just have a major stinker!

Anyone else? Any funny Mother's Day flops?

Similar day here! DS is breaking some canine teeth so he was up before dawn, which woke the baby up, so I spent the first few hours of Mother's Day alternating nursing and reading books in the living room. I let DH sleep, which sounds sweet but really I just wanted him to watch the kids while I take a nap later today, lol.

LO had an early morning as well. My H claims that he tried to have her make a mothers day card for me but instead of writing on the paper she wrote all over the wall. Not sure exactly how that happened if he was supposed to be watching her. I get to clean crayon off the wall this week.

DH is working so I took Mira to target for some new sandals and then to get groceries. Well about 5 minutes into our target adventure she threw an epic tantrum. I got soo many looks of pity I lost count. I had 3 store employees come up to me and say "She's too young to understand it's mother's day so Happy Mother's Day and I hope it gets better". lol. At least she remained seated in the cart during the quickest grocery trip ever lol...Happy Mother's Day to all J12 moms!!

We decided to go to the zoo and DD#1 started throwing a major fit because she didn't like where we sat on the train. She wouldn't stop with the tantrum so DH took her back to the car and Avery and I had fun at the zoo just the two of us. DH eventually brought DD#1 back in and we finished the zoo together. After the zoo both kids crashed in the car and DH enjoyed a nice quiet drive.

I had a pretty good day. Nicholas was dedicated at church and then we went out to lunch. We tried a new restaurant that I will never go back to. It took 45 minutes after we ordered to get any food...with two toddlers and a baby. @-) Then my food came out ice cold. Blech!

I did get an awesome gift card for a massage and haircut though...totally excited...even if I did tell DH exactly what to buy!

We went to my sister in laws for brunch with with my mother in law. I wished my mil a happy mothers day and got only a thank you in return. No happy mothers day back. Funny thing is I knew she wouldn't say it back and called it in the car before we got there. She is so self absorbed its disgusting.

H had a card ready that he had Z deliver to me in the morning. Then they disappeared for a while in the car and came back with a variety of gifts for me that they pulled one at a time out of the car. My H has never been a plan ahead type. It was still a good day though.

Well I got nothing again this year, not even a "Happy Mother's Day" from my H. Total disappointment. Also we had to cancel our plans to go to the zoo as my parents surprised us and called and said they were arriving later that day. (We weren't expecting them until later in the week!). So I spent my entire Mother's Day cleaning the house like a crazy person. 

Then I told my H I needed an hour to myself and I left him with Ava while I planned to go to Old Navy and JC Penny to get some new tank tops and possibly other summer stuff. However my brief stop at the dollar store turned out to be longer than I planned so I didn't have time to make it to the other stores. Had to get home for my parents arrival.

 Everything turned out though, my parents took us out to dinner and we had a great time and I'm so happy they are here - and that I got to see my own Mom on Mother's Day! It's been years since that has happened

Cooper decided to pitch an epic fit in the car screaming for his Lankie (he never does that) so we had to stop@ the Carter's outlet where he picked out the most expensive blanket in the store. Then he fell asleep 2 minutes from our plan b dinner (plan a scratched due to said epic meltdown). That's pretty much all I can complain about.

My H, and kids were amazing. DH woke up with Becca, cleaned the whole house in preparation for MIL, FIL, Mom and Mom's boyfriend to come over for brunch. DS was with my mom the night before so she was bringing him back for brunch, DH made a shit load of food, I made mimosa's, my mom brought wine for later. MIL and FIL call us 1/2 hour before they are supposed to come over and said they are not coming as FIL mother was in and out of the hospital all week and they wanted to stay around the house just in case, and that MIL wanted to do what she wanted to do and that was to stay at home and play in her garden. Fine by me, just wished they said something earlier, as DH prepared a lot of food, I felt really bad for him.

THe rest of the day, we sat in the backyard, drinking wine, while the kids played in the water and sand table. Mom stayed for dinner, her boyfriend left to go golfing. DH made dinner and cleaned everything up....all in all it was a great day.

TheBoy's mom took Elissa away for a whole 24 hours. It was awesome. Which makes me feel like it was a fail on my part...
