Heart palpitations at night

So I'm very new here so of I'm on the wrong board sorry.

For the past few nights I've been waking up with my heart pounding and feeling more stressed than when I went to sleep. Now I haven't been eating that well since I pretty much have only been able to keep down toast or non greasy cheese bread (on a good day). I'm also a first year teacher so work has been getting pretty stressful with end of the year paperwork and students both ready to leave and all apparently hitting puberty at once. Teaching and coaching are now having some extra long hours so my usual workout of swimming isn't really an option right now.

I know this can't be good for being pregnant and I feel like I'm messing up. Does anyone know how bad this may be for the development? I'm trying to relax but failing pretty miserably.
Or does anyone have a workout for someone who rarely does anything outside of a pool? I've been a long distance swimmer most of my life but never very good at dry land.
I'm 15 wks and looking for anything people do to help relax

I had heart palpitations when pregnant too, though not til later on, and they completely resolved after birth. I most commonly had them when lying down. I wouldn't be worried about it affecting development, because the baby should still be getting the same amount of oxygen (assuming you are still breathing normally). But you can always bring it up with your OB/midwife at your next appt. I highly doubt it's related to your diet. ETA: if you are having chest pain with the palpitations that would be something to get checked out ASAP

  • I have them and.im 29.weeks, mine is from high blood pressure. Im being monitored for pre eclampsia. I had it with.my last pregnancy too. Im gonna be induced at least 5.weeks early just like my last pregnancy. Ask your Dr , my Dr said it could be anxiety too.
  • I have palpitations and chest pain due to mitral valve prolapse and anxiety too. Jogging helped a lot but that was before I got pregnant. I'm too nauseous to get out of bed but I'm hoping swimming and pre natal yoga will help when I'm better. When in doubt, talk to your OB or PCP!
