Mini pill vs regular pill

So I have been on the mini pill since 6 weeks pp and I was EBFing H at that time. I have since reduced breastfeeding to once a day in the mornings because my supply was so low and he wasn't gaining weight. I kinda got my period back about a week ago (it was very light and kinda came and went for a few days with minor cramping).

This may be a dumb question but when is it time to go back to the normal pill? Is the mini pill ineffective now that I only breastfeed once a day?

I don't want to get pregnant again yet! TIA!!

I'm EBF and on the mini pill but I talked to my Dr about staying on it when I'm done BFing because I believe the combo pill made my migraines worse. She said I can but I have to be super careful about taking it on time.

When I was BFing, I took the mini pill. As soon as I dried up, I filled my prescription for the regular pill. I know regular BC is effective for me. Its so hard to take the mini pill within an hr of the same time each day, so I was glad when I could make the switch.

I thought the reason mini pills we prescribed instead of regular BC was due to the hormones in regular BC being passed along in BM. I don't know for sure though. You could double check with your doctor. Mine wrote me a prescription for regular BC before I was ready for it so that I would have it on hand when I was ready.
