Back to work

Well I started back to work on Monday and I have to say I am exhausted. The bigger kids have had sports 3 nights this week and I feel like I don't have any down time which is why I haven't been bumping in what seems like forever. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way I just don't remember it being so difficult with the other 2. Guess this is a bit of a pity party vent post but hopefully as the next couple of weeks pass I will feel less run down as I get into the swing of things.

On a better note we have a conditional sale on our home. Fingers crossed it goes through.

  • I too, can't imagine going back after being home for a year! I'm definitely jealous of the year long maternity leave, but I always knew I'd be back after only 12 weeks. The first half I was recovering and learning to breastfeed and the second half I'd started to settle into a small routine, but was quickly brought back to work reality before I had much time to get used to it.  I imagine in a years time, you'd gotten pretty settled into a routine that relied on you being home, so it's probably much harder to adjust.

Like you, having (just 1 in my case) older child(ren) adds a whole other level of complication. I've learned to do as much as possible the night before, like unpacking backpacks/workbags, setting up lunches/bottles for the kids, lunches for DH and myself and sticking to really simple dinners- cheeseburgers, breakfast for dinner, tacos, spaghetti, stir fry. I have to be honest, DH cooks dinner almost every night, especially while I've been nursing/pumping, it just doesn't leave extra time for me to do a whole lot of dinner prep, but I help clean up as often as possible. We divide and conqueror everything.  Again because of the nursing, DH has taken DD to a lot of her after school activities (like school events) and that really helps.

Life will be chaotic for a little bit, but you'll eventually settle into a new routine. Hang in there!!

  • Thanks ladies, I know it will get easier it just feels like everything is so rushed now especially with baseball and soccer at 5:30 3 nights a week. It is crazy to get home and have to be back out right away. It is deciding between rushing to eat before we go or rushing to eat when we get home and having to get in the tub and bed before it gets too late past bedtime.
