Ok, my RE wants me on a super low carb diet because my sugars have been borderline most of my life. But it''s mothers day Sunday, and then the 25th is DH's birthday, and then the 31st is our anniversary. And I want cake damnit. *pouts* We are also benched this cycle.
So if your RE wants you on a specific diet, do you have any cheat days? Does this change if you are actively cycling?
Well, I typically do low carb anyway, because I know it's beneficial for fertility, when I'm *really* being strict, I stay around 30g total per day. When I cheat, I eat everything that isn't nailed down. All the cakes, pasta, pizza, everything.
So obviously I'm not a good person to ask

My motto is everything in moderation or I will go crazy but I'm not on a strict diet. My sister was in a low carb diet due to PID and she would splurge slightly once a week.

When I put restrictions on myself, I cheat all the time. When the doctor puts restrictions on me, I stick to what I've been told the best I can. I whine about it a lot, though.
So, a cheat day every now and then has been scientifically to boost metabolism around 9x that of normal for almost 24 hours. It stims from back in caveman days when we had times of very little food and then boom, payday (killed and elephant?) and could spare to burn the energy. So I am a full believer in cheat days. I just wish it were cheat weekend.

I feel your pain, it is only 10 am and I want to eat what I packed for lunch already because I am STARVING, I even had a really good breakfast at 8 ish

So what's every now and then? Because we have 3 days I'd love to cheat for this month...
I think I'm having a harder time justifying a cheat day because I already cheat on it. Mostly because 50 carbs a day is almost impossible as a vegetarian.
My RE wanted me on a low carb diet because my blood sugar is often borderline high. But after I reminded him I was vegetarian, he also said that things like beans were fine, even though they are high carb/high protein. So I'm not exactly sure what he really wants me to do. So I'm mostly just cutting grains and fruit and going for as low carb/high protein as I can. I also dragged out my old glucose monitor from when I was borderline GD with my oldest. I figure that if good blood sugar is the goal, that's more important than specific carb counts.
@JimBobCooter I haven't. And I'm honestly not sure. I had a smoothie with half a banana, peanut butter, plain Greek yogurt, cocoa powder and milk for breakfast and refried beans with sauce and cheese for lunch yesterday and I was already at 75 carbs.
So this thread, as well as a few other convos with various people lately has inspired me to get an app that tracks all that stuff. So I've tracked my food for the last two days and have no idea how to get my carbs down lower than my protein. I thought I was doing pretty good, but I guess I suck at feeding myself healthy food.
So I have a question for @Mrs Castillo. How on earth do you keep it down to only 30g if carbs a day? What do you eat? Please and thank you, I need help!

I'm just throwing this out there, if it is plant based carbs (beans and what not) your body uses them efficiently as fuel and are processed differently than breads and sugar carbs. I have been told by personal trainer and doctors not to worry about the healthy carbs. I eat lentils, beans, quinoa, chia seeds, wheat berries, pinhead Irish oats and salads all day, high in protien, higher in carbs, and yes very frustrating, but I keep reminding myself they are the healthy easy used carbs for body and I'm seeing results even over past week of solid healthy eating (minus cheat pizza yesterday). Anyway, my two cents, Mrscastillo correct as necessary
