  • @Meow84 was that your name? I just realized I dont remember what name you were going with or if you ever shared or not, so I apologize if you did.

I'm surprised its #1. I'm also surprised that people keep naming their children Michael.

We haven't talked names in a while and had left it at Noah or Logan (also pretty popular but not in top 10). Boys names have been really hard for us! I really like Harrison but my H has some sort of utter dislike for the possibility of a nickname Harry.
I like Harrison! Its cute! Maybe he will come around. Not every kid needs a nickname. I fully planned on calling Emery, Emery her whole life. We only started calling her Emy because she says that and its cute. Otherwise I force everyone to say her name properly.

  • I looked the popularity of George, I'm surprised it's not more popular what with Prince George and all.

Boo, Ava is #5. I don't know any other Ava's in real life and that's one of the reasons we chose it. I didn't realize it was so popular.

@Meow84 - I wouldn't let the list get you too down.  Even though Noah was the #1 boys name, it was still less than 1% of all male births.  If you name him that, theres still a good chance there wouldn't be another Noah in his classroom.  And as other PP said, it differs by state.
Totally.  I love downloading the raw data, because then you see just how few babies were really named the most "popular" choices.  Once you fall out of the top 10, it's less than 10k a name for girls, and less than 15k a name for boys (I guess boys names are more classic and people are less likely to be unique!), which is not so bad.  Even the top names, Sophia at 21k and Noah at 18k, doesn't seem so bad when you consider there are over 310 million people in the USA.
