Hello, 4 months ago I was diagnosed with Primary Ovarian Insufficiency. I'm about to turn 39 this month, my FSH was in the low 30's, AMH was .03. My doctor told me he would entertain an IUI cycle as the "last diagnostic test". He has been extremely negative the entire time but I figured he was willing to try it so why not. I am now on IUI stims CD13. I had 4 follicles by CD3 but by CD5 only had one that was growing the rest had died off. Fast forward today, CD13I have one follicle at 13MM and one at 10MM and my e2 is at 110.
My doctor thinks we should stop stimulating because he thinks the results are poor - on Wednesday the follies were 8 and 11 and E2 was 101 ... he thinks the fact that by today there hasn't been much growth (follicles are at 13 & 10 with E2 at 110) and more follicles that this isn't going anywhere. I want to stay positive but I'm starting to think he may be right. He told me if I "wanted to go to the wall" he would let me stimulate until Sunday. If by Sunday I don't have a follicle at 16 he is going to pull the plug or I can just give up and pull it myself now which is why I'm on this board ... what do you ladies think, does this sound hopeless? I would love to hear about your experience good or bad with high FSH and IUI. BTW, I'm currently on Follistim, 450IU per night.
The only things I can say, is I'm sorry your dr isn't being positive. Perhaps he's in the wrong profession, because this is a very sensitive situation. Since you've already invested in this cycle, I personally would try to see it through, and once it was done go find another doctor. Also, on the 3T board (trouble trying to conceive) they have much more background with IUI. Most of us here are on ivf, and they would probably be more informative in that regard. Best of luck to you!
On 10/23/13 Baby Sophie and Baby Gabriel born at 21+5 weeks. They grew wings and flew away from us. May God bless them always. We love you beans!
I'm sorry to hear that things are looking so grim. And like PP said, I'm not a fan of the negative outlook of your doctor! If it were me, I would want to have no regrets, so I'd see it through and tell the doc to put the pedal to the metal. And if this cycle didn't pan out, I'd probably seek out a second opinion before moving on entirely. But that's just me. I'm persistent to a fault!
It does sound to me like he gave up on you before you started I'm with the other ladies that I would prefer to see it through then have regrets later. Then you eliminate the "what if's"

I agree. I'm so sorry your put in this position in the first place. I'm hoping you have better luck soon.
