@otter1103 I've had my double BoB since December. Using it is in my top ten reasons I'm excited for this baby.
How early are you able to use it for a baby? I was all excited for mine but now I'm reading they have to be either 6 months or a year old, so it's not like I could use it any time soon.
The one we got came with a newborn insert. But as @LilNunz1 said her friend did, we plan on doing the same. Fully reclined and the lake across the street our* house had very flat pathways that I'll stick too.
My sister is giving me shit for asking her to get a tDap shot. She's acting like I'm being a crazy FTM and it's incredibly annoying. My baby - my rules.
@rachel5130 She doesn't have kids but she is older than me. Her boyfriend's sister is really into home births and natural alternatives and they have talked about that, so on one hand, she has been like "you should really look into alternatives to medicine if you suffer from PPD. Are you sure vaccines are necessary? Maybe you shouldn't have an epidural" etc. On the other hand, we had a friend who used all natural diapers and once said something about "I don't want bleach on my daughters ...!" and so my sister will say things like "Please don't be like *** and talk about how horrible everything is for your kid". just sttttaahhhhpppp. It's annoying both ways. Pair all this with a boyfriend who thinks the government is out to get us all (they bought anti-radiation pills online after Fukushima because we live in the PNW) and its a nightmare.
I have a question. How do you check PMs on mobile? I will be almost exclusively mobile for the next two weeks and was wondering if there was a link or something one of you computer users could post. Maybe we could make it its on thread or put it in the newbie thread to make it easy to search for?
@ElTrain5 I wanna read it! Haha
you totally should, I also just sent you a pretty awesome panda gif. those are reserved for special occasions
@StrawberryDreams219 - The jogging stroller we got is the InStep Grand Safari. It comes with a fleece insert that after we played with in the store could be used as an insert but isn't as plush as a typical newborn insert if that makes any sense. We figured me walking flat pathways while fully reclined will be all all I can physically do in the first few weeks before better head control anyway.
Here is the link to the stroller we got. Hubs really like the ability to lock the front wheel from the handle bar rather than around front and it folded down a little smaller than a BOB (which I really needed until we decide on a bigger family vehicle than my little Impreza)
@yellowbird219 - Like @Tdonatoni said, target's regular maxi dresses work great for maternity! I also love the 2 maxi skirts I bought from Motherhood Maternity.
DH and I caught the nesting big finally!! We washed and folded/hung up all the baby stuff, his room is ready to go, we reorganized the laundry room and the pantry and now I am doing all the laundry and he is reorganizing our medicine cabinet and bathroom stuff. What a relief! I never thought this day would come!!!
I changed my sheets today, finally took off the winter duvet....holy amazing. I love fresh sheets, and with it still being 70 at almost 10pm, having one blanket instead of a giant comforter is sooooo nice.
Did anyone else notice their armpits got darker??? Mine did (so ugly!) I googled and it said it could be caused by preggo hormones! I feel like this baby boy is turning me into a guy! Belching, hair growing everywhere (but my head) and now the dark armpits!!! (
Oh man, sorry you are also dealing with it! And I live in TX and it's HOT so of course you wanna wear tank tops! My hubby was the one that pointed it out yesterday..."um babe...what's wrong with your armpits why are they so dark?"...sigh...I told him it's one of the other joys of pregnancy lol. I hope they go away ASAP after birth!
DH and I did something completely unexpected on the weekend for a couple expecting their first baby. We bought a motorcycle!
DH is completely pumped. We've talking about getting him one since we got married (4 years!), so this year he decided to take the plunge, and I threw in my complete support with one rule: don't crash. Since we're a one car family, this means I'll have a car for the last few weeks of pregnancy and for the whole summer. Not that I'll use it a lot once I'm done work, but it will be nice to have the option!
We got a 1985 Yamaha Maxim 750 from a very sweet 83 year old man who hated to see it go, but couldn't pass his motorcycle license test. Just need to get the ownership changed, and the bike insured, and DH is good to go. I might even join him for a quick ride or two before baby comes!
@sempre_staccato how exciting! We are a bike family- DF has quite a few. Just know the general thought regarding crashing is "When, not if". Have fun!!

Yep. This^^ I would probably wait till baby is here for your ride as this ^^ is a UNIVERSAL truth. Everyone drops a bike at least once.

@elsa1688 Eek, don't tell me that! I've already committed to supporting his motorcycle wishes, so I'm just going to have to put the worry about the danger out of my mind...

Yup! And make sure you (both) ALWAYS wear a helmet!! Here, helmets are optional (only eye protection is required) and it's the dumbest thing I've ever seen when people choose not to wear one. When DH dropped his bike, he was only going about 25, but still dislocated his shoulder and hit his head against the curb. Had he not been wearing a helmet, it could have turned his minor accident into something extremely serious.
@sempre_staccato Just make sure he wears safety gear-- helmet, gloves, boots at an absolute bare minimum. I have watch guys wreck their bikes on race tracks where the bikes exploded into a million pieces and the guys walked away from it with no injuries. Safety gear is soooooo important. Invest in quality pieces (not brain buckets, rather full face helmet, quality leather, ect). Riding can be so safe so don't worry!! Most "accidents" are minor

Say what?!? A helmet is 100% NOT optional! They're law here, according to DH. We'll be getting him a new one (and a second one, just in case I decide to ride with him) since the one he got with the bike had been painted by the old owner, which is also apparently illegal.

I'm certainly happy to hear that! And I know DH will be responsible and not reckless. I'm actually doing a pretty good job of not worry about it. We'll see if that changes once the bike actually gets on the road!

More fun tips!! Always wear boots (for you too). Something that stabilizes your heel. If you ever drop your helmet, even if you are just walking or casually drop it fumbling, you need to replace it. And a lot of accidents happen because of cars/other drivers, so just be aware of that.

@camag Also, not sure about an infant nuzzler. I suppose it would work the same as a "halo" of blankets?
