Serious Baby Body Language Question (PR)

So I watch a friend's baby at least once a week.  Our boys are 6 months apart; J (her son) is 9 months, E (my son) is 3 months.  Lately, whenever J crawls up to E and either grabs the toy next to E or touches E, E starts BAWLING.  Red face, no sound, bawling.  Now, in the past, J has been a little rough with E, leaving scratches on him, hooking an eye by accident, etc., but surely they are too young to hate each other already??  What is the issue, does E associate J with owwies, is J telling mean "Yo Mama" jokes, is E just being too sensitive?  He has no issues with anyone else we have encountered, so it's just surprising to me when he starts crying because J touched his hand in passing.   Maybe I'm just over-thinking things FTM style, who the fuck knows.

  • Maybe the older boy is just startling your LO?  Babies and toddlers are rough sometimes without realizing it.

  • I had the opposite problem. My son is a 3.5 and my nephew just turned 2. It's getting better now, but when my nephew was 9 months - almost 2, he was very rough. He'd accidentally knock my son over or hit him with something, and it got to the point where my son would get upset when he got too close. I think the same thing maybe happening with your son, but since he's younger, he doesn't have the ability to get away. Hopefully, it will get better soon as they get older.
