Babies in the Sun:)

When do you apply sunscreen? If going in the sun at all? If for long periods of time? And what about bald babies? Do you just put sunscreen on their head? Or always wear a hat?

As it gets warmer, I feel clueless. Obviously if we go to the park or something like that she gets sunscreen and I have a few hats but her heads just so big. Andplusalso I'm just curious.

Re: Babies in the Sun:)

  • I apply if going in the sun for more than five minutes.  So if I know we are going walking, or going to hang out outside, or def the beach, I apply.  My baby is bald, and I put a sun hat on her before we go too.  My LO is in 12 month hats already too.

  • If she is going to be in the sun longer then couple of minutes I apply sunscreen. She has full head of hair so no sunscreen on her head but I put a wide brim hat on her
  • I was just thinking this the other day because we finally had our first day of warm weather! I bought a natural sunscreen and I plan to put it on her if we go for walks even if they're just 15 minute ones. Definitely apply sunscreen if were just playing outside as well. DD has a full head of hair so no sunscreen on the head but most definitely will be putting a hat on her no matter what.

We also put on sunscreen if going to be out for more than 10 mins. I used a stick in her face yesterday because I'm afraid the lotion will run. We also use a hat. If she were bald is do sunscreen then a hat on top. I also use a sport tent at the house and will use it at the beach too.
  • I sunscreen whenever we leave, we're in AZ and we have A LOT of sun.  The sunscreen is right near the door so we lather up before we leave the house everytime.  My daycare puts sunscreen on the kiddos before outside time, too.
  • I haven't even thought of sunscreen yet, but with today's temperature of 87 I can see I will need to. So far we take our walks early am or after I get off work in the evening so there hasn't been much sun. LO hates the sun and wind so any time it's been near her I have pulled her stroller shade over her. Our Peg Perego stroller shade goes down to her feet so she's covered completely

  • I put sunscreen on him if we are going outside. But not to just get in and out of the car. He wears a hat everyday. I gave the sitter sunscreen for her to put on him if they go outside. We are fair so I prefer for him to stay in the shade.

I only put sunscreen on him if we are going swimming outside or the beach.

Funny thing is the last time we took him out, everything got tanned except for the crevices in his thighs. So if you look at the fat rolls in his thighs, they are at least 4 shades lighter than the rest of him. I might even post a picture of it one day.
Do it!! @starscream‌ that'd be hilarious! Wheeeeeezy!

  • My LO will not wear a hat anymore. He can whip it off fast with one hand. I put his aveeno sunscreen on anytime I'm taking him out now. Once I hadn't and looked back at him in the car when we had gone out and the sun was beaming threw the windows on him. I used a blanket to block it but always use sunscreen now. The aveeno is great cause it doesn't leave a greasy feeling on his skin.

If I know we're going to be outside for a while (more than just a couple minutes) I put it on. I try to keep a hat on him outside.
