Lap./Hysteroscopy and salpingectomy

Morning ladies

We are in the final 2ww before I hope to go in for my surgery at the end of the month and I am starting to feel a bit scared and nervous. The lap/hysteroscopy seem to be pretty common (I did some past post searching this morning) but I don't see too much about the salpingectomy (tube removal)...

For those of you who have had any of these procedures I'd love to hear about your experience, recovery and follow up plans. I am trying to stay calm but as it gets closer my nerves are starting to take over. Thank you all!!

A salpingectomy is also fairly common. Though mostly due to ectopic. I ding have any advice, as my consult is not till the end of the month. But I'm also have a lap/hysteroscopy/salpingectomy so I'm curious what the responses will be.

Since you were post searching, I'm sure you saw all of the advice about how to prepare for the surgery and tips for making recovery a bit easier.

As for the follow up plan - that's going to depend on what the doctor finds. Sometimes people don't really find anything substantial, so they choose to continue with either TI or IUI. Sometimes people find blockages, cysts, or severe endo and their best bet is to go for IVF. So it depends on all of that, but also on what you are comfortable with and luckily you don't need to make any decisions right away. Just focus on getting through your surgery and recovery and then worry about the next step.

Hmm you're right. The Bump's search function sucks.

There are some basic tips that your doctor may tell you anyway:

- make sure you have everything you need (food, medicine) before the surgery because you may not want to go out for a few days

- wear loose clothing

- tell the doctor's if you've ever felt sick from anesthesia, they can give you anti-nausea meds

- bring a pillow for the car ride home, it helps to hold it against your stomach

- take it easy, even if you feel okay, take it easy - it takes some time for the meds to wear off

- be very careful about keeping your incisions clean

- lay with your legs in the air or use a heating pad to help with gas pains in your chest/shoulders if you get them

My #1 tip is to start taking a stool softener a few days before surgery and keep taking it for a few days after. The constipation is no joke.

@Milagros315‌ is correct about the stool softener. I thought I would be fine and just eat some prunes and it would be no biggie. I was wrong. Get some and use them. Though you may feel good after a few days, take it easy. I started cleaning the house and I paid for it for sure.

Stool softener! While the first several days I was praying to god I wouldn't have a BM (I had endo/scar tissue removed from bowels) I think it was day 4-5 i started getting extremely uncomfortable, I had never experienced that kind of constipation in my life! Drink lots of water, and have some light foods available to eat like jello, pudding, soup. For me, I was down for a good week and even then I was still sore and trying to do more than I should of. I had a lot of cutting done, so I think it's different for everyone and what they find. You will do fine! Good luck!

I had a right salpingectomy due to an ectopic pregnancy. The procdure itself wasn't bad and my surgeon told me it's common with very minor risks. I had one complication in which my bladder decided to not work after the surgery but they put me on a catheter and I was fine after another 24hrs. In a week I was feeling much better and pretty much felt like myself by two weeks post op. My complication isn't common and I was pretty much just sore after that. It wasn't too bad. Good luck!

I am so sorry it's taken me a few days to get back to this thread. I really apprecaite everyones input, knowledge and support! I am still undecided if i will go forward with the surgery this month or next but will be sure to update on what happens. Thank you all for being so amazing!
