I am just wondering how many hours everyone works per week? I work a rotating schedule, and work 12ish hour days and about 48-52 hours a week. It is killing me. I am wondering if I should cut back already to avoid any complications down the road?? I worked one 14 hour day and ended up staying home the next day due to spotting (which has since stopped).

A & K, married 7/1/13.
After 10 months of ttc via medicated IUIs and two early losses, we finally got our boys- Perfect premie twins born 5/27/14.
If you can swing cutting back I would. I would have loved to have cut back starting at 32 weeks. Being on your feet pregnant with twins is not easy!
I thought there was no possible way I'd be able to keep working through this pregnancy when I was in 1st Tri (I believe I actually posted something about it myself!). I felt like I was failing as a worker, as a partner, and as a general human being because not only was I super tired (I would come home from work and nap for 3 hours), but my brain also wasn't functioning well during the day.
I work 37.5 hours a week doing student support work at a university, so 75% of the time I'm at my desk, and the rest of the time I'm flying around giving presentations, attending meetings, or working on event-type things. If you can, I'd try to cut back a bit at least, there's no way I'd be able to maintain a 12 hour day even now. For me at 15 weeks I'm back up to being productive at work and home, but by about 5pm my brain is starting to feel a bit fried and my body is sore from sitting all day.
My plan so far is to keep working full-time, but build in days off from 20-28 weeks using my accumulated vacation time. I am guessing that around 30 weeks or so things will start to get harder, so I'm probably going to ask to work from home in the afternoons some days starting about then, and I'm mentally preparing not to be working anymore by about 34 weeks or so, because I think it's likely that with the summer heat I'll probably be on bedrest by then.

We lost our beautiful Twin baby girls on June 18, 2014. Tavin Sara and Casey Elizabeth were born at 21 weeks gestation and were absolutely beautiful, precious, amazing babies. We miss our daughters every day and love them with all our hearts.
At 27 weeks I cut back to part time and worked 5 hours/day instead of 8/day. The sitting all day + 2 hour commute was starting to get to me. At 30 weeks I started feeling crappy with cramps and bad RLP and I stopped working entirely.
If you can reduce before going off entirely I'd highly suggest it, it's a much nicer transition. And once you're home... not gonna lie... it's pretty boring. You can look around the house and see all the stuff that you want to get done, but you don't have the energy to do it. Or if you do it, you'll pay for it later and be tired, sore, crampy.
You're a trooper though girl, I couldn't imagine pulling those long shifts and being on my feet all day!
I am a retail manager so I am on my feet 90% of the day, and it is pretty physical also (which I've been pretty careful about. I have some awesome co workers that help me when needed).
I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow and probably have them fill my paper work for reduced work hours. Better safe than sorry.
I did start to WFH 2x a week starting at 32w after a weekend stint in the hospital for pre-e. Like pp said, my commute was the worst part of work for me.
Killing me!
I am out of my home commuting and working in an office from 7A until 5P, M-F. I also provide minimal childcare in my own home from 6P to 9P on M/Tu and from 10A to 7P on Sa/Su. I am a busibody, but even with my workaholic attitude, I still have felt far more inspired to cut back and slow down since having my boys - and I had a lot of changes I had to make during the pregnancy. You do what works best for you and yours
