Microfiber inserts

I feel like this may sound a little silly but... Do you think microfiber inserts lose any absorbency after a while of use? Or after being worn down my sunning or washing? I can't help but feel that my 'good' inserts are feeling a little thinner lately. I don't know if it's just me or what. My daughter had a leak a couple nights ago but I think it's because I put in the wrong inserts (one of my good ones and one that's really thin and sucks) and since then she hasn't leaked but I guess I don't feel as confident in my inserts lately.

Oh yea! I have new inserts that came with my BGs and they're fluffy. Someone included some with a used diaper I purchased and they're rough and feel totally different because they're less fluffy. I replaced all mine with flats now anyway though...MUCH better!

  • I do use a couple flats at inserts from time to time and I like them but never sure about night time. Have you used them at night before?

You mean instead of microfiber? A flat is way more absorbent than a MF insert - go for it, especially if you're worried about leaks.

@veggie04‌ yes we use them alone at night, but she's only 3 mos so they're plenty absorbent. I also have bamboo flats for when/if she outgrows the regular flats.

  • I guess I'm in the minority. I feel like my MF inserts are a little bit flatter, but they fluffed back up after I stripped them for minerals and any time I dry them in the dryer (which is often). They still seem pretty absorbent after almost 2 years of use. Natural fibers definitely hold more, but I think my MF still have lots of life left in them.
