On a 12 lber... yes. The OS doesn't truly start fitting until 15-18lbs. I'd take the front insert out and just have the regular insert and doubler in, fold over the rise. This will make it less huge and have a better fit.
Agree with Nana. Are you sure you need all the inserts? We only use regular TTs, not the TTNNs, and have no issues when paired with a PUL cover. And you could fold down the rise once some insert bulk is removed.
They are huge, but they work pretty good for us (better than anything else I've tried). We have an OBV coming to us, and I have 2 CV TTNNs right now. Here is a pic of Isaac in one and he's about 16lb in this pic and this is using the fold down rise. He has all the inserts in this one, and still is wet/damp on the outside of it in the morning so I couldn't trim it down any.
@SarahA918 - He is long (28" at just shy of 4 months), so if he wasn't in a bulky diaper he would have to wear a 12 month sleeper, but with his TTNN he has to wear 18 month sleepers to give enough length in the torso. The legs are way to long on the 18m but it doesn't matter because he's sleeping.
As soon as it's warm enough, he will be sleeping in just a shirt and his wool covers over the TTNN. It's still cool weather up here and his room is cool at night with the humidifier going.
One trick I figured out for getting a good fit when you need all the layers is to put the smaller soaker on the outside of the fitted but held in place by the cover.
I folded down the rise tonight too and it's way better! My mom came over around bedtime and was laughing at him wearing his huge diaper. I told her she should've seen him last night!
Re: TTNN is HUGE!!!
Have you ever seen those tv shows about men with elephantitis with huge balls? This is what he's reminding me of right now.
